Default Knocking sound when hitting bumps

I have a 2008 base 6mt with 106,000 miles and for some Reason I hear a knocking sound when I go over bumps. It's only on the drivers side that I can tell. I'm wondering if it's a bushing or something that needs to be replaced but I'm still not sure. I know there was a thread in this already but no solutions were posted and it hasn't been a live thread since like 2012

Could be any number of things. Bad strut, torn bushing, ball joint. Tough to explain suspension knocks online.

I agree with Looch and travlee. You need to get the car up on a lift and inspect the suspension components.

Same as the other 3, inspect it, look underneath. Common fail points are sway bar end links, lower control arm inner bushings, lower control arm shock mount bushings. Take a look at ball joints, see if they are torn or have a lot of play with the wheels off the ground, There are a lot of different components, each one must be looked at and carefully tested for failure or problems. It won't take you long to find the problem, just go slow and one piece by one piece or take it to a shop and let them find it

Check the wheel bearing too. I recently ran into a knock which turned out to be a loose axel nut. If you need a wheel bearing I have a Timken one BNIB.

Good luck!

In addition to the suspects listed above, check your lug-nuts on the wheel(s) where the sound is coming from. Make sure they are torqued and not just "snug".

Two weeks ago, I adjusted my front Cusco sway bar. In the past few days, I been hearing clunking from the front end, gradually getting worse. Turns out that my endlink nut was loose. Maybe you can start with that? If not, then it could be a wide variety of things.
