G2 Paint for Akebono Calipers
Hey all,
Im painting my Akebonos with G2 paint but do I sand down the original finish, or scuff it up so the epoxy paint will stick?
All the threads I saw were stock cast iron calipers with no previous paint.
Id get them powdercoated since I get everything else PC'd but the rears are new. I dont want to destroy new calipers and put aftermarket seals.

If the existing paint/powder coat is in good condition without any chipping or peeling it would probably be fine. You would need to rough up the surface first with sandpaper or scotch brite pads.
Powder coat would probably give you the best finish, and VHT paint would also be a good alternative to G2 but needs to be cured before it will have any resistance to brake fluid, and most likely you will also need clearcoat to get the best looks.
