Default Rear End Walk

Hello everyone,

Recently, I have been experiencing the rear end scooting out about 1/2" when going through turns on the freeway at 65 mph then griping like normal again. I am suspecting the rear subframe bushings are shot. Can anyone confirm this being a common side effect of blown subframe bushings?

For anyone who is wondering, the differential bushing has been replaced with an SPL unit.

Thanks in advance!

when was the last time you had it aligned? do you have black goo coming from subframe bushing?

I actually had it aligned again because I thought that may have been the issue. But I tested the car after alignment and it still had the walk.

Read dif bushing can give the same feeling, seems like the likely problem unless its already been addressed.

What rear camber arms do you have? I had a problem with bushings having too much clearance causing a "loose' rear end sway feeling. Took off the rear Kinetix camber arms, returned to OEM arms, problem was resolved for me.

If the rear is moving around over bumps that would be a sign the shocks are gone

Good news!

After taking the car to Specialty Z here in SoCal, they discovered that every single piece of SPL suspension components were jacked up by whoever touched them last. So much so that there were rods an arms not even properly bolted down! Who did the damage? Well, that would be the last alignment shop I went to (you know, the ones for "normal" cars).

After having everything fixed by the shop, I went in for a proper alignment at West End Alignment and the car drives spectacularly now! My wheel is straight for the first time in 6 years and the driving dynamics of the car are superb. Case in point, prior to having everything addressed and fixed, I was never able to roll on throttle in a corner. Now I can roll on the throttle before the apex without worrying about my impending doom. Haha!

Thanks to all of you for your input and for taking the time to reply!

Yes. Mine would do this all the time before I took it in and they discovered the blown bushing. They quoted me a price at the dealership to replace the entire rear subframe for $1400. So I just bought new aluminum bushings from SIKKY and haven't had any issues for over a year. Rear end is way more stable too. Like a totally different car.
