Suspension Noise Fixed
Long story short, I've gone from Koni coilovers to Bilstein shock/ Swift Spec R spring combo, and with each setup there's always been a very annoying rattling noise from the front suspension. Well, I try my best to always torque everything I can to spec per the FSM. Well the torque spec for the top 3 nuts that hold the top of the strut to the car is 28 ft/lbs. Well, just yesterday I was playing with my front suspension and when putting it all back together said **** it, and decided to torque it down to 40 ft/lbs while it's on the ground, can't hurt right? Well I drive my car to work this morning and voila, annoying rattle completely gone, only the sweet sweet dull sound of the tire going over bumps, it's truly bliss. But seriously though, what gives? I've learned from countless broken bolts to pay attention to torque specs especially on an 8+ year old car in the northeast, anyone have some insight?
