Weekend Track Alignment...

Default Weekend Track Alignment...

Hey Guys,

What do you think of the following alignment for a weekend track car. It gets used mildly during the week like 2-3 times during weekdays. Other than that, it is mostly for weekend.


Camber Front
-1.5 -1.5
Caster
8.5 8.5
Toe
.05 .05

Camber Rear
-1.0 -1.0
Toe
.08 .08

or

Camber Front
-1.0 -1.0
Caster
8.5 8.5
Toe
.05 .05

Camber Rear
-1.5 -1.5
Toe
.08 .08

So in essence, is it better to run more camber in front or rear? Thanks in advance!

First if all, if you track the car and use it as a play to for turning corners there is no reason to have less then -2.5 camber up front even if it's a daily driver. If it is only a play car, -3 up front and if it's primary purpose is the track , but up to -3.3 to -3.5 . Then the rear, unless it's high hp , no need for anything less then -2.

Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up. I always thought those numbers were too high based on the stock settings for semi daily/weekend track car. But I wanted to get some experienced track guys to chime in on that as I wasn't sure. I've had some crazy inside wear on the tires front and back but I think it's mainly due to toe.

What are your thoughts on toe I mentioned? Also, what are the differences you guys feel having more camber out front versus rear?

LOLs Touche. Although, I'm not going for #stancelife even though it looks nice but more so road race stance. The car gets driven...hard. So not really going for show car at this point.

Rear toe I run OEM spec, also perfect for the track, front I run 0 of slight toe out.

Having more camber up front increases front grip, and reduces understeer. Reducing indersteer is a must, even when running a square tire combo

I now run -2.5 and -1.5 camber


Vs the -3.5 and -2.5 I can tell you it does understeer compared to when I ran more camber. But I do drive it on the street a couple times a month and tires are not cheap. So it's a trade off. I might end going back to more camber and just take the hit in the bank.


I also run OEM specs on rear toe

The last year mine was a daily driver it was aligned at race specs . It had -3.3 front and -2.2 rear, I did put like 25k miles on it that year, just like the previous years.

I ran V12 for street use , typically got 20 to 30k a set. Rear of my car has always been at -2 to -2.1 the upper end of OEM spec. Somehow my tires just lasted. Even at -3.3 up front, my V12's lasted a year

It was the combination for me. I was running a very aggressive alignment with toe in front and rear. They also lasted a year but that was like 5k miles for my car

Was this daily?! I see that tread wear rating is at 280aaa for v12. I use Nitto NT05 with a square set up. Tread rating is at 200 :/ I love the grip though.

Yes, back when it was daily driven. I did have separate wheels with nt05 or rs3 once I figured out the nt05 was garbage

Why do you think they're garbage in comparison? They have the same treadwear rating. Grip? What differences did you feel when switching over?

Nto5 is slower, wears faster, turns into a brick after a heat cycle, and costs slightly less

Are all of you guys getting these camber and faster measures on OEM amounts and tie rods?

Or are you guys using after market links, arms and camber adj..?

I'm thinking about installing my Beilsteins but don't wanna have to jump into more mods to retain a decent alignment.

A basic rear camber arm and toe bolt kit , and front upper control arm will give you what you need.

Some of the cars have the basics mentioned. Mine is on the far from basic side of things.
