Default Z buying questions (Austin owners especially)

Well, I went out looking to work a deal today, no players at Town North or Round Rock. I'm trying to find a 6spd touring with nav. Town North said they can get a dealer trade on a Silverstone 6spd with nav and burnt orange interior. I really thought I liked this interior, but now I am having second thoughts. I wish I could see it in person. I know the Murano comes in a similiar color interior, is it the same, anyone know?

I also saw online, who knows if it's accurate, that there is a Daytona Blue 6spd touring with nav and frost leather interior. This frost leather is kind of growing on me. I've seen pics posted, but can't find a thread currently. Anyone with this combo feel free to chime in, or just anyone with the frost leather, I'd like to hear how you like it.

Any tips for dealers to deal with in or around Austin is also appreciated, or better specific salesman. Town North wouldn't work with me on the trade in price of my 2000 Eclipse GT or the MSRP or dealer BS fees. Most places will work with you on one or the other. They tried to offer me $10k for my 22k mile 2000 Eclipse GT 5spd with everything but leather and ABS. It's paid off and I'm not about to give it away like that. I am trying to get 12-13k for it, put down 2-3k, and finance as close to 20k as possible at 3.9%.

Any tips for negotiating for Zs is appreciated.

Well, I just go mine from South Point Nissan. I ordered it at the end of November. There were a lot better than Town North Nissan. Town North was bunch of jack*sses(at least the salesperson I talked to). No dealership in Austin will probably come off of MSRP, if they do it won't be much. They know that in a warm climate town with spring approaching, 350z' can be sold to someone else easily. I ended up getting some stuff thrown in, because it wasn't on my order. I got splash guards and floor mats for free. I also got a fairly good APR from them. If I were you I would go to them and see what's coming in in the next month and hopefully they will have something similar to what you want (and not taken).

Got mine at Southpoint. I can point you to a specific sales man if you want. I have the interior you are looking for and I think it's awesome. Let me know if I can help out at all.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm going to go talk to South Point Nissan tomorrow. Hopefully they can at least work with me on the trade in value of my car.

I had contemplated going to Houston or Dallas to get it, but decided to just try and get it here.

Default TEXASEX?

Hey Rob Nance
Are you a TexasEX?
I think there is something in it if you go to a Nissan Dealer in Austin

Actually 10K seems to be a good bid on your car. KBB books it out at just under 10k. Consider the enormous incentives that Mitsu is offerring on their new stocks. Of course these promos are going to make the Mitsu used car market that much tougher.

I attended UT before going into the Air Force, but did not get my degree.

I know KBB says 10k for trade in value, but I saw some on their lot in poor shape for $13-14k. I am either going to sell it myself and then get a Z or if they will work with me on the car's price or give me 12k for the trade in then I will get a Z this week probably. I know they can sell my car for 13-14, it's immaculate. They won't make much money off of it, but that's what it's going to take for me to do it through them.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Rob,

Did you used to have a GSXR 750? Your last name rings a bell...small world if so!

Hey Chris. I'd say your last name if I ever knew how to spell it, Soinyay is how it sounds, know that much You know what's an even smaller world man, I've seen you in your S2K once or twice. I think you must live right over where I live now in fact. I live in the Scofield Ridge AMLI apartments. I saw you checking your mail one time in that neighborhood over there, while walking around. Just the other day I was thinking that when I get this Z, I'll have to go by a bike night and see if you still show up to those, and any of the old gang.

Rob, it's "Soignier", and I can hardly fault anyone for misspelling it. Yes, I live in the Ridge @ Scofield Farms, so I'm right down the street. You should stop by and say hi sometime! Much of the old gang (plus a lot of newbies) still goes to bike nights, so I'm sure they'd be glad to see you...even in a cage. It's now every Wed. @ Mozart's, and every Saturday night rotating between EZ's and the Round Rock Fazoli's. My bike night this Wed. is going to be in Bastrop, at Lakeside MX park.

vova151, I'm glad you checked out MZM. Yep, Mohammad and Mutasim are really cool guys who know their stuff and take good care of their customers/cars. Yes, that was me today heading back to work after an at-home lunch. I don't normally drive my S2000 to work, but I just got back from skiing in CO last week, and today's weather was just too nice to put a roof over my head!

Vova151, I really appreciate the reccomendation to Ruben. I guess you had called him already and told him I'd be coming in, that was cool. He was expecting me. He's a great guy, no BS, willing to work with you. I like him so much I bought the Silverstone 350z 6spd touring with nav Not sure where he's getting it from, but it should be here tomorrow or the next day. I test drove the silverstone track model. I don't know if it was because it was brand new, had like 15 miles on it, or if it was because I was expecting more, but I wasn't blown away by the performance. It was certainly good, but it didn't feel quite as much as I had expected.

Ruben got me 3.9% from Austin Telco, the absolute best you can get right now for a Nissan I think. I am not totally sure on what the car is going to have. I know it has 6spd, nav, and burnt orange interior. The MSRP was 37250 I believe, so I am thinking it would need to be a tad higher to have the side airbags, so in exchange I think it might have everything BUT side airbags, which is what I wanted. I'll know more tomorrow hopefully. Ruben worked with me on the trade in and we met real close to the amount I wanted to get for it.

Thanks again Vova, good to keep our network of Z owners tight, glad I could buy from Ruben.

I'm so gald to hear it Rob. I actually ended up becoming pretty good friends with Ruben. We still talk on the phone periodically and I always spend some time with him when I pop in. I hope it wasn't too much of a shock for you that you were expected. I tried to explain the situation and I said you know....work with him.

Excellent deal that it's coming in that fast. I was miserable with the 3 months that I had to wait. Let me know when you plan on picking it up. I need to get an oil change this week and if you get it tomorrow during the day I can try to swing by at the same time.

Congrats again and looking forward to getting out on a drive.

I am being hopeful saying tomorrow, he said it will most likely be Wednesday in all reality.

I just went and priced out the Touring model with 6spd and with every single option it is 37,251. hah, I didn't realize I was literally getting it "fully loaded". nav, side airbags, mats, trunk mat, aluminum door plates, aero package, splash guards, and cargo package! I didn't really want the cargo package, but I guess I can take the net out if I am so inclined.

It's sinking in that I am actually going to have a Z, pretty excited!

I'll have to swing by and see you sometime Chris, send me a PM with where you live/cell sometime.

Thanks again man. I thought it was cool that you had told him I was coming, didn't bother me in the slightest.

You are supposed to break-in the engine before you try to tear it up.
Nice of you to think of whomever ultimately buys the car you test drove.

Tell me where I said that I took it to redline? Tell me where I said I went triple digits? Tell me where I said ANYTHING other than I was not totally impressed with the performance from my initial impression? Guess what, I never did any of that. You have a TERRIBLE attitude man, why are you so bitter?

To help you understand, I will explain how I came to this conclusion. The low end throttle response and power, was not very impressive. I did not go past 4500 RPM on my test drive. Most cars, exceptions being S2000 and other VTEC type engines and force induction cars, make their power pretty linearly. You can tell a lot about these engines from low to mid RPM range, without abusing the engine.

Understand now?
