If you really want a realistic number, visit a local bank, or a credit union. They will be happy to qulify you and give you a very precise figure, based on your personal circumstances.

From the numbers point of view here is a couple rules of thumb
Total car payments should not exceed 12 percent of your net income
Cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and other vehicles’ total value should be less than half your annual income
I looked around on some sites today and found two conflicting numbers for the "average" loan amount for a car.
they are:
"
The average car payment is $378 over 63 months
The average monthly new car payment dropped from $466 per month for cars sold in October 2002 to $447 per month for cars sold in October 2003, according to Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive information."
Personally for me I don't have a payment right now. I am saving for my Z and hope to have enough by august to get my payment under 400 for 48 months. If I don't hit that goal I will keep on saving till my current car craps out or I have enough.

Yes there is. This is my 05 Civic Si. I was partnered in putting a show on and i built a car to be featured/ premote the show. Yes i know the graphics are heavy and ricey but it was just for this show.

As far as the debate between the z and rx8 that is my debate and not the worlds debate between the sti/evo. Yes i am into the looks and im not looking to build more cars. I just want to enjoy a nice car with good power.
