ideas?
I can give you ideas, but ultimately you have to decide. First of all, the difference in purchase price is insignificant. If the $1,490 is significant, then you will never be able to insure the car regardless of which you get.
Many here will scoff at the idea of an AT. However, I think you need to look at how you will be using the car and what are your own wishes. If I had to commute every day in heavy, stop and go traffic, I definitely get an AT. Driving a MT car in those conditions is just horrendously annoying. If someone else will need to drive the car on occasion that can't drive a MT well, then an AT would also be a good idea. OTOH, if you are the only driver, don't have to deal with stop and go traffic, are comfortable with learning to drive a car with a difficult MT, and enjoy the process of driving a MT car, then go with a MT.
There is nothing wrong with an AT if it meets your needs.
Welcome. The manual vs automatic transmission debate is about 6 years old. Not going to go there again again again. Drive both. Decide which best suits your needs.
