17k accident depreciation?
I ended up leasing the car the whole time instead of buying like intended but I got rear ended and it cost 17k to fix my car.I know that would be a big turn off to someone who ran a carfax on it. The buyout for the lease says 16k I think. It's an 07 touring AT, probably 50k by June..I'd rather try to buy it and keep it than buy a pos beater, since I left work from the hit. Just curious how much you think it would be worth in fairness, not what theyre asking.

Buying that car would be the absolute dumbest thing you could do. Once you signed the papers originally your buyout cost was set in stone which was the probable residual value after your lease term. I know exactly what you did the lease term (payments) was alot more attractive then a purchase so you went with that.Modding a leased car is also a bad move. Dude when making such a big financial decision you should really educate yourself more because your ignorance can cost you thousands.

Nope, thats not it at all duro. I won't get into it, but thanks for your info, I figured there wasn't any say in it. Looks like it'll be gone soon. It was 17k because of so many sides of the car involved btw.

I know the think is if you look for a similar car 07 etc etc you'd end up paying more for that car than keeping your own car so why not keep it. The thing is once you add up the lease payments and the new loan with taxes and interest you would of ended up paying so much more for that car and essentially financed a car for 8 years considering if it was
36m lease and 60m finance.
36m lease and 60m finance.

I agree with the overall point you are trying to make on the lease argument, but it will never change. You can get into more car leasing than you can buying

I see your point. I really wanted to keep this car until I graduated, now I have no idea what I'm going to do now.
Exactly why I wanna shoot morons driving around texting, on the cell, etc. Wasn't the cause of the accident, but when accidents happen in perfect conditions...then adding distractions to shitty drivers just makes things worse. It's utterly amazing how oblivious to the outside world some drivers are while on their cell. Don't mind me... back hurts right now, just grumpy lol.
