Question 2003 350z yay/nay?

I'm looking to buy a 350z, 03 or 04. I'm currently looking at a 2003 350Z sunburst orange touring, with Bose system, leather seats and only 30k miles on it, however he's the fourth owner though, claims the interior is clean and so is the exterior. But the guy won't go less than 13500. I'm planning to take the vehicle to Nissan dealer and get the used car inspection done on it, that's if I plan to buy it. But before doing that I'd rather consult you guys. Do you guys think I'm getting a good deal or can I get a better one?

I've never bought a Z before so I'm sure the owners can help me out here, or even FIND BE BETTER DEAL! NY/VA/NJ/MD/DE/DC/NC I can travel to these states to buy the car.

Really low miles for an almost 10 year old car. Plus he's asking $3000 less than KBB. Only you can be the judge of the exterior/interior with an "in person" inspection. Get a CarFax and test drive it for transmission grinds (if it's a 6-speed). Good luck.

Hey thanks. Yes, I'm planning to go take a look at it tomorrow. I got the carfax and it came out clean, only 4 owners he bought it at
09/16/2010 14,079

The first owner bought it on 05/05/2003 and sold it on 03/26/2007 with 3k miles, I guess he only drove it once in a blue moon?

2nd owner bought 01/11/2008 3,113

third owner 08/03/2009 6,456

and then this guy
09/16/2010 14,079

I forgot to mention that it is a 6 speed, the carfax reports it +30 above kb value. I'm still nervous though, I will take it for a 150(not sure of the number) inspection before buying it and get it done by a Nissan Dealer and they said that they drive it for 3 miles or so too, just to make sure everything is allright. The carfax is completely clean. And this guy drove it 15k miles according to the carfax.

And that's the only reason I'm here asking you guys, maybe some suggestions would help me out.

me personally, I hate that orange but if you like then cool. Miles are good. 4 owners to me really doesn't say anything. I bought a 2006 that had 5 owners but had clean title. I assume that previous owners just couldn't make the payments and/or the car wasn't what they thought they wanted and they were going through a phase. Idk about getting a car that old to be honest but it doesn't sound like that bad of a deal. I have hard time spending that much money on a car that's already 8 years old though. It's all up to you man but definitely have it looked at.

How do you know this for a fact? Did you make an offer? Of course not because you have not seen the car.

Do not be put-off by "firm" prices. Nothing is firm until you make an offer.

Firstly, he says the bank has the title and he owes them 13500 and I go with him pay it off and he will get that title right then and sign it off. I'm scared about this process since I've never tried something like this before. Do people even do this? I'm thinking of giving his bank a personal check so at least I'll have the proof that I paid it off. Any suggestions?

I start grad school this september and I'll be paying too much tuition.
How much did you pay for it?
and trust me I'm not having an easy time either and that's why i'm here. I had to sell my motorcycle too.

He lives 3 hours away so I wanted to be sure about the price or how negotiable it was and made offers first. He won't even take 13k for it and it was annoying me, I told him I was buying a different car if he didnt agree and he didn't. I did check the different car out too the one I was planning to buy instead of this one, but it looked like it had been treated like junk. So I decided to not go with the purchase. When I see his zed tomorrow, I will offer him 13250 lets see what he says. According to him the bank has the title and he owes them this much amount.

You sit with the owner and lender and work the deal. The lender takes care of the title. Very common.

Problem here is that the owner is despirate to sell. But $13,500 is NOT a desperate price. There is no wiggle room.

I was in your shoes not too long ago.

I would say you're getting a really good deal, as long as everything is legit and the Z itself is clean (title, interior and exterior). There was a 2003 Le Mans Sunset Touring 1-owner just like the one you are describing 40 miles from me back in the beginning of the year and it was selling for $17,500 with 30,000 miles. Like davidv said, it sounds like there may no wiggle room.

I bought my 2003 Chrome Silver Touring from a Nissan dealer back in March. Paid $15,500 for a 1-owner with just under 45,000 miles. Clean car fax too. KBB had it going for $2k more. Good deals are abound, just need to do your research.

I thought about traveling myself but ended up not going through with it. I would rather not waste my time unless I knew the person. Remember, pricing is also affected by the region you are buying in and the market itself.

Good luck!

Wanted to bump this old thread.

So I did end up buying the Z back in 2011, kept it for 2-3 years and sold it off for actually almost the same price I bought it.

Never had any issues with the Engine or anything else with regular wear and tear.

I moved onto the BMW 335 coupe 2 years ago, have been loving the car and the power that comes with it ever since.

Thank you Z community!!!
