Would like some opinions before I buy this Z
Hey guys. I just made an account so that I could get some opinions on this 350Z I'm very interested in. It's an 06 350Z for 12.5k that has had its motor replaced so the oil leakage is not prevalent in this car. The only thing that worries me about this car is that it has 97k miles. While it is pretty average for the year that the car is in, I am still cautious as I should be with any car approaching 100k. There is no timing belt on this car either. The seller has kept it in well condition and I would pretty much be on the buying side if it wasn't for the mileage. Any thoughts guys?
I should probably add that I plan on taking well care of this car. I've wanted one for a long time and I'm looking to care for the insides as well as out. I plan on treating it as if it were brand new with oil changes, checkups, and replacements in the future if necessary.

Personally, I would only get one with a HR engine ('7-'8). However, if that's your budget, a '6 with such a history would need more scrutiny. The price is low enough to be attractive. Have it inspected more in depth by someone or at a place that can provide such service. We can only go by your descriptions and the inspection needs to be performed in person.

I should have provided a link as well. Here is the link to the listing: http://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/cto/4411708051.html
It is a bit of a read but I can provide the info from reading it. The engine was replaced due to the car running through oil. Being replaced at 80k, the new engine has 17k total.

If you can verify the engine miles through the shop / dealership that replaced it this Z may be a very good deal. Again, try to get as much documentation on the engine swap as possible and check over the rest of the vehicle very carefully.

OP this seller appears to have taken great care of that Z. He mentioned that he had a binder full of service documentation which is always a plus. The seller also knew he had a long commute and purchased a clear bra, that's indicative of person who cares for their car. The interior is in great shape, spotless, he also mentioned that it had been garaged it's whole life and stored away one winter; car has minimal oxidation on mirrors and headlights.
Buying it from the original owner is always a plus as well, esp when they have documented maintenance, that Z just looks like it was properly cared for.
Just ask the owner a few other questions like whether or not the clutch and flywheel had been replaced at time of new engine or at 85k when he did a lot of other maintenance. If everything checks out, and this is completely in your budget, I say go for it. It looks like a great looking cared for Z. Like mine! I'm the type of person that keeps every part of it spotless, even the door jams lol
