Let's get real, for a $5K budget, a good 350Z is out of your range. Particularly in Cali, where resale prices and costs are high. Be honest with yourself: can you buy a wrecked Z33, and have the skills, tools and experience to absorb all the labor costs? That's the only way you'd be able to afford it- and even then, the salvage title means you'll never sell it for what you have in it.
You really need to save way more $$ to get a Z that hasn't been totally used up. Don't put yourself into a position where the car is constantly breaking down, or worse yet, sits for long periods because you can't fix it, won't pass emissions, etc. Either that, or set your sights on a lower priced FWD car that you can drive until you can afford a decent Z. And yeah, you can thank me later...

With that budget you can get a civic. Get real OP.
Less then 100K it will have a salvage title and still be out of your range. You're looking at high miles over 150K, in muliple accidents and beat to ****.
350Z's under $6,000 in ALL of the US
Oh and in Florida its really easy to get a reconstructed/rebuilt title for vehicles, you can get one for a block of wood.
