Looking for my first 350z!
Hey Z owners,
So I'm 18 and I've been looking at getting a 350z! I currently have a 2002 Dodge Durango which is my first car. It was passed down by my parents and it isn't horrible but I'd like a new car. I've had it for over a year now and I want a reasonably priced 350z! I've looked through a few and I found a silver 2006 350z enthusiast for $14,400 with 66k miles. I'm wondering if that's a good deal. My parents are going to be the one paying for the car and it's insurance but they aren't hot on the Z. I told them I'd pay however much the insurance rises. So I would pay the difference between the insurance of the Durango and Z. I'm wondering how much that would be around. I know it's somewhat insurance company specific but can anyone make any generalizations? Would it go up by double digits or triples digits? I have no tickets or accident.
I also want some tips on convincing my parents! The only thing they seem to have against it is that it's not "practical" because it's considered a sports car. They also think 66,000 miles is too much and they think they're going to have to pay a lot for maintenance. So what I'm basically asking is it worth it to buy the Z? Can you guys give me anything to tell my parents to convince them? Also is there anything I should know about getting one or driving one?
Thanks for your time!

King, if your parents love you enough to give you 15K for a newer car, they should trust you enough to only pay for liability insurance which shouldn't be much more than you are currently paying for. Also the Z car with only 60K miles should be very reliable and be less expensive to maintain than a Durango. You have excellent taste in vehicles and I wish you all the luck in your future.

You should not get a z for multiple reasons
1. Your insurance will be much higher.
2. Maintenance will probably cost more than your Durango. It IS a sports car.
3. If YOU cannot afford a Z yourself, you should not own one.
4. Your parents are absolutely correct on not wanting you to have a Z because you will probably kill yourself in it. It is not a "practical" car. There is many times you will wish you had 4 seats, a trunk, or better gas mileage.
As everyone else has suggested. Do not get a Z, I'd hate to see another one wrecked. Wait til your 20 or so, have a job that can afford it and are much wiser.
But also yes it is a decent deal at best you'll find that one for right around 13k. 60k miles is practically still new for a Z

Lol OP you came to the wrong place. Most of the people on here that know anything about Z's are old and bitter because the Z is getting cheap and kids like you are in the market for them. I don't get why it rustles their jimmies so much...

Idk about anyone else but I'm only a few years older than op. If anything everyone should egg him on to get one and dugan it so the value goes up on everyone else's and becomes more rare.

Thanks to everyone that actually helped! I don't know why people are so hostile on here but I guess it must be what Doggman9 said. Just looking for some help and guidance, sorry for ever causing anything! I'm not buying a Z so I can wreck it but apparently people think I will. I'm not looking for a cheap car to trick out either but apparently getting a Z would disgrace the car! Thanks again to anyone who was actually pleasant!
