I've got a line on a 2004 350z. It is red with an automatic with only 19,500 miles on it. It looks to be in great shape. It is a one owner and he kept all of the service records. There wasn't really anything done except the oil changes and new tires because of the cupping problem. He also had the letter for the lawsuit. He is asking $16,500. From all of my research on KBB, Edmunds, etc, that is high even with the low miles. From what I am seeing on the market though, that is not a bad price. What does everyone think about this deal?

That's high for an '04 even with that low of miles, what trim is it? If it had a 6 speed and was a Touring or Track model it'd be worth it.

Thanks for the feedback, bith8791.I believe it is the Enthusiast trim. It has cruise with controls on the steering wheel, but it has cloth seats. I think it is a 6 speed auto. Any thoughts what may be a fair price? It is a one owner Arizona car so it hasn't seen snow at all. There is an after market Nav in it. Other than that, it is pretty basic.

Sounds high.

At that price point, you could be looking at an 07 or 08 manual with the HR engine, albeit with more miles.

Miles on these cars aren't the deal killers they can be on American or German cars.

Nissan builds their cars to last.

Didn't spend a lot of time looking at each individual one, but like I said, if you are looking (and able) to spend anything near 16k (or possibly a bit more), there are much better options than a 2004 automatic.

Not sure how much you have researched Z's, or if you want or need an automatic (they are frowned apon by die hard sports car fanatics, lol), but spend some time on this website.

IMO the best year Z is the 2007,2008, which will have a higher horsepower engine, and as it was the last 2 years of production, Nissan had pretty much worked out all the bugs from earlier years (but I'm biased, as I own a cherry 2008 NISMO).

I don't understand why you guys diss autos so much, they aren't that different. I have an auto cause my gf can't drive manual and I'm not about to teach her in a 350z.. anyways I have raced 2 other 350s and I've won both times against manuals. It's really just a driver's battle for the most part. I completely understand why you prefer a manual but all I'm saying is powerwise, its not much different.

But anyways that price is a bit high for sure 13kish would be a fair price in my book low miles or not. However I don't see how they didn't put more miles on it. These cars are too fun to let sit in the garage. And for the 07-08 thing, it really depends if you have any plans for mods, as you'll find a revup model would be your best bet, at least if FI is in your mod list.

I would pay no more than $13k for 2004 Enthusiast trim car even with that low mileage

Anything more and I would instead look for a Touring trim level

This helps, thanks. I was concerned about additional expense like a timing belt if I got something with too many miles but from what I've seen on this site, these cars have timing chains so that would help. I appreciate the feedback!

I've come to the same conclusion. I'm going with an '07 or newer. I wouldn't know what to do without bluetooth!

Thanks! I guess automatics are not very well liked here! I actually had a Nissan salesman tell me that the automatics were actually faster than the 6 speeds. Of course, he was a salesman. BTW - I can drive a stick.

The automatic will out-shift a driver in a straight line. On a track, and for fun I'd stick with a standard.

A used 2009 will be dropping down to the sub-$20k range soon enough

You should be able to find better deals down there than that. Granted I haven't lived there in a year and a half but I used to come across pretty good deals down there. I'd hold out and wait, they're all over the place down there.

That's a good idea. I've turned my attention to an '07 350 with 12k. He is asking $18,900 for it. I have gotten a couple of 370's come up in my price range. They have higher mileage on them though. I've been told not to worry too much about mileage.
