However the performance isn't much different, I've beat manuals with my auto. But also remember autos are made to shift better than someone could in a manual.

It really depends what your using it for though, but auto can do well too...

But sport shift mode has a bit of lag when shifting, maybe .3-.5 seconds I'd say.. I've heard the valve body upgrade does away with the lag though, maybe mostly, maybe all the way, can't say for sure cause i don't have the upgrade.
I can pretty much confirm everything that was said here. I own an 07 Z with an automatic trans and i honestly dont get what the big deal is. I have driven manuals and i have driven this. I prefer auto for a daily driver because its just 1 less thing to think about. I wouldnt stay away from a car just because its an automatic.

Especially a z, autos hold the power just as well, the main difference is a 3.3 fd vs a manual having a 3.5 fd but it kinda evens out having one less gear and would theoretically have a higher top speed, not that it really matters, how often would you be doing 150+ lol

Some cars have significant power losses from auto to manual but not this z

Thanks you all for the replies. In case this turns into another auto/manual debate, again, I was just curious about the sport shift mode on the auto. Though I know the paddle shifter is a more standard way nowadays, but the sport shift level has a better feel of a racing car.

Lol, yeah that's why I tried to point of things from both sides
And I agree sport shift is a better feel than paddle shifters. But the lag kills the feeling, feels better to just run it auto rocket style
