Default Purchasing a Z, Help!!!!

So I'm looking to buy a 2004 Nissan 350z, However I need some advice. The seller has the car up for $6000 with 105,xxx miles, salvage title, and the problem with this car is that it grinds in 5th gear. According to him it is a " bad synchro". Also he claims the car has a " bad bushing". Anyways after negotiating the price, we came to an agreement of $3000. Is this a good deal or am I getting myself into a mess? I'm scheduled to check out the car on Wednesday so feedback immediately would be appreciated.

Welcome, and that's a helluva first post. There's no way for any of us to truly advise you on this purchase without closely examining this Z. Since it's got a salvage title, make sure you check with your insurance company to determine if they will cover it. You'll likely only get basic insurance, so any major damage and you're SOL. It's wise to get an independent mechanical assessment of the car as you've planned. Outside of that, the worn fifth gear syncro could be addressed with a tranny fluid change using Redline MT85, but you should ask WHICH bushing is "bad" and have your tech take a close look at it. Depending on mileage and condition, there may be plenty more reconditioning this car needs, so good luck with that...

@dkmaru thanks for the reply. I will definitely have a mechanic check out before I make any moves. I was informed that I will be needing a new tranny for this car & im having second thoughts. I might just keep looking and hope the right z will come by.
