Deciding between 03 or 06 350z
I am a possible future 350z owner. I am going to go look at an 03 350z that has 70k miles for $10.9k and an 06 350z with 86k miles for $10.9k. Trim wise they are not listed but they both have leather seats, the 06 looks like some more hand controls on the steering wheel and it has the 5 spoke chrome wheels.
I am aware that 06's have oil consumption issues and when I go look at it, I'm going to check the oil, both of these cars are at car lots.
My price range is $10-12k and my requirements are manual with less than 100k miles. The boost in HP in the 06 does not sway me as I am not looking for power. I am just looking for a good looking rwd coupe that is fun to drive.
I am not set on these 2 cars, its just what I have found locally that match my requirements, with that said which would you go with and why? Thanks, this will also be a daily driver.

Looking at the carfax, they have had the car since January. I figured checking the oil and seeing if its low or not would be beneficial, of course unless they changed it recently.

I say save for an 07/08. The oil consumption is a bad thing since most who bought these didnt know. Damage couldve been done.
03/04 tranny had problems, again damage couldve been done and a new teanny is 2k.

True but if he has OC issues, just keep an eye out and add oil accordingly. I have an 06 that burns a **** ton of oil and I just keep adding to and changing it all out every 3k and it runs great. Been doing this for 35k miles now, and now I am sitting at 163k.
Lets not forget if the 07/08 has slave issues (which is extremely common since they're plastic, that alone requires the tranny to be dropped.) So saying he might have to replace an 03/04 tranny is negligible because it will cost about the same (he can just buy a used one for 500-700..)
I'd get the 06 OP. OC was a hit or a miss anyway, not all manual transmissions had OC issues. If you do, just add oil every time it gets low and you'll be fine. The upgrades they did from 03-05 make the OC seem like not a big issue (headlights, taillights, bumper, interior, wheels, rev-up, etc etc..)
