I thought you had to go get a special inspection (extraI expensive) to say the car was safe for highway use before they would even register a salvage car again.

I would buy one for the right price, for a parts car.

In MA, yes(I'm an insurance agent in MA) state inspection needed then it's considered reconstructed.

The the op's post. It depends how much you're going to be into it when it's done. If you're buying it/fixing it for like 7k total then go for it.

IMHO salvage cars are perfect to build up and enjoy. Not to flip or try to make money on!

I agree with this.

They are usually re-sold by someone who bought them directly from the insurance who is making money.

In the end you will have a car that was 20-30% less than buying one undamaged.
