Default Need Advice on buying this 350z!

Hey everyone. I have always wanted to own a 350z and I was wondering what you think of this one for sale? I am hesitant to buy because of possible unforeseen issues. Keep in mind this car is in Canada and an average stock 350z with the same Km costs 12- $14 000. Advice/ opinion much appreciated!

Thanks guys

Appears to be tastefully modifed. Understand that the engine knock is likely a spun rod bearing. In that case, it would be cheaper to just buy a good used engine than to repair the current one. If you are mechanically inclined, some one is selling a used engine in the private classifieds here for a reasonable price. If you were to do all the work yourself, you could potentially spend less than 1200 to get it running. Personally, I wouldn't offer him more than 7k and that's pushing it. He never mentioned anything about it being tuned with all of the modifictions it has... wouldn't be suprised if that's why it crapped out on him.

If those mods fit your taste, it seems like a pretty good deal. This is especially true if you can do the work yourself and get it running. If you already had plans to modify the car, this is a chance to get a good deal and start off right away.

Whatever you plan to do be fully prepared to replace or rebuild the engine. Like everyone said most likely bad bearing which is bad. Best case scenario it's just some weird noise that's not a big deal and is an easy fix but it is more than likely its a bad bearing so go in with that mindset.

I am also wondering what a full rebuild would cost nowadays? I would get a shop to do it for sure. I would also consider putting higher quality internals into it. If you have any knowledge of the price to rebuild that would be appreciated

If you plan on having someone else fix it I would go ask them before you buy it what they would charge. This way you know exactly what you are getting into before you purchase.

"- Estimated 320-330hp"

Ummmmm.... No.

Pass on this one. There are better Z-cars out there that don't require a new engine or a complete engine rebuild.

Do yourself a favour and find one cert and e tested give you a ideal white head performance quoted me $8500 before taxes to rebuild a stock motor. And you still have to certify this car. Now my motor was fine but I was curious if I kept the car long term what it would cost me. I sold my 2006 350z for 11000 in great shape ran perfect 43000 miles I'm in Ontario so look for a better deal. Or you will be into 20000 fast unless you can do all the work!

8500? If I was a millionaire I still wouldn't pay that much! With prices like that, it's well worth the investment to download the FSM for free and take your time to pull and rebuild the engine yourself. Or better yet, get a quality used one and spend even less!

Seems like a nice car... If u don't mind fixing it yourself, u could ask to bring the price down and buy it cheap. But if you don't want to mess with it, I would say buy a car that's close to stock and start from scratch... I've never liked heavily modified cars... Takes the joy out of modifying it on your own...

An '03 with 138k km, and already needs a rebuild for $10k?! The seller has no clue what he's talking about, and he's preying on dumbasses who don't know anything about these cars.

1) He's talking up the paint to distract from the glaring engine issue.
2) The VQ is resilient, if it already has a knock at 138k km, he was NOT babying it like he claimed
3) A full bolt-on DE is only going to see 250-280 WHP. One with a knock is likely seeing even less. If he didn't get it on a dyno to prove "320" that number doesn't mean sh*t.

You can do better. I'm listing mine this coming spring when it comes out of storage: stock '04 Liquid Aluminum, fully-loaded Touring, and 60k km for $15k - and it's a Canadian car too. Other than some rock chips on the bumper, it doesn't need anything.

I'm not trying to plug mine (I'm two provinces away), I'm just pointing out that you can find a much better, and more reliable vehicle in the $10-15k range. Avoid this like the plague.
