There can be many reasons for price increases, one could be exchange rate between US $ and yen.
If you signed a contract with the dealer and put down a deposit when you ordered the Z, the price increase has no effect on you. In fact, in such a case you should be laughing.

I know it's only $100, but it's still pretty lame. I negotiated a discount off MSRP, and signed a contract with a deposit down. You're probably right "ohw". I should get the price before the $100 add on, but I'll have to make sure. I just don't want to pay an extra $100 to get one that's already about as late as possible in the model year.

Exactly. Your agreed to price is on a signed contract when you ordered. This price increase will not effect you or I (waiting for my Z to be delivered also). You're safe

I noticed you're also waiting for your Z to be delivered too...where in NJ are you and what dealer did you go to?

thats well under inflation. 100$ on 30k is .3%. inflation averages 2% a year (not sure of exact current rates). so if it really did inflate according to that it should have gone up 1200$ since its been 2 years since it was introduced.
>> Or... you think it would offset the cost of the tranny and tire replacements and lemon buybacks...?
Sadly this is probably the right idea.
Nissan won't make any significant changes to the pricing until they significantly change the car. But I'm sure they're feeling the hurt from a handful of rather costly TSB's...
I wouldn't be surprised in the future if they killed off one of the trim levels entirely, like possibly the Performance, just to save even more on their releases and configurations.

I just bought my z yesterday and one of the dealerships I was at mentioned the price increase. He said that Nissan is cutting production of the Z by 2,000 units for the '05 model. But as soon as I went to another dealer he did not mention a price increase and I got my car at the same price I had negotiated for about two weeks ago at $500 over invoice without any problems. So I'm not sure when it will go into effect, but it did not efffect my purchase this weekend.

Michael.
I agree this is the more likely cause. I don't keep track of this sort of thing normally, but it seems odd that there would be a price increase this late in the model year.
