I'm going down to denver on thursday to get a new 350z but i would like to know what the invoice is on an 04 performance model? Theres a black one at one of the dealerships i want and their asking 32k on it.
when you get their, you can ask to see invoice of the car you are looking at, they have to show you. but don't forget to add the 500-600 for shipping the car to the dealership. If my memory serves me right, invoice for those is around 29K. But don't settle if they won't give you a few hundred over invoice, if you look hard enough you will find one,
your best bet is to wait until the end of the month, that is the easiest way to talk the price down.. Good Luck
The dealer does NOT have to show you their invoice. People think that they are going to be had when people set out to purchase a car (and unfortunately this does happen), but has anyone bought furniture or jewelry lately, the mark-up is outrageous. Do you ask them what they paid for their inventory? If you do the proper research such as NADA or Edmunds you will get a fair deal and feel good about your purchase.
well i know for sure that in oklahoma and texas everytime I asked for invoice, they showed it to me, and they told me that they had to show me if I asked... so I don't know about anywhere else... just what dealers told me in those areas...
when buying jewelry, mark up is like 300% and no i don't ask for inventory, I just buy from who they buy from...
but unfortunately, this day and age buying a car and buying jewelry or furniture isn't the same thing... most poeple now go to the dealers knowing they can get below MSRP, how much is up to that months sales, or the guy you are dealing with, how much they are pushing a certain car... just how it is now... it sucks for the salesman, not saying everyone does it, but call around enough, you will find someone selling for cheaper..
I mean if you go to a dealer at the beginning of the month they might not be as lenient, or if they are having a good month and have met their quota, but if they have a bad month, they will call you back and offer a better deal...
I can tell you are in car sales
I'm not saying everything I said is true, it is just what i have learned from other dealers and salesman from past experiences, and this is what they told me...
I mean, I got my car for $100 over invoice... and it was an 04 nothing wrong with it...AND it was blue, a hard color to find, just talked to enough peeople and waited until i got the deal I wanted... and now I have more money for upgrades!!
Thanks for the help guys, i found everything i needed at edmunds.com. Going to be buying either a used 03 touring datyona blue or a new 04. I dont think it'll be too hard to get a decent deal in denver since most people buy 4wd cars and suvs.
I haven't been able to find invoice prices on nissan since 2004, couldn't find it on edmunds either. There's the MSRP and edmunds's TMV but that's it. Anyone know if practice of releasing invoice has changed?
Well you guessed it. I am just trying to say that it is fair to make a reasonable profit on a particular product. It also helps to sell one of the best products on the road today. The point about furniture and jewlery mark up is it makes me sick to know that someone just made 300% on my purchase. I am happy I have good connections in the jewelry and furniture business.
BTW, bought my 03 Touring, Silverstone w/ Burnt, every option including Navi and only 6,000 for wholesale (trade). In this case under $24K. It now has 10,000 miles an dno problems. I'm happy
well being in the car business as you are, you of course will get the BEST DEAL,
I actually came across such deals with enthusiasts models, BUT i just couldn't bring myself to settle for a color I didn't want, I wanted DB, I just had to have it!
To be honest, we will never know the dealer's true invoice. Sure they show us a piece of paper with numbers on it that's more than likely printed from an office computer. I will not fall for that again. I asked to see an invoice and the salesman showed me a piece of paper with garbage on it that was probably printed using his desktop computer.

There will also be hold backs etc that you will never find out about and they look to make money on other aspects of the deal, trade-in, finance, extended warranty, extra's etc and then of course servicing.
