Default What's the most you guys got knocked off sticker price?

Was wondering how much you guys got knocked off the sticker price of your Z. I really screwed up with my first car (that is now totalled) and was looking for some advice when I go into the dealer.

I have 10k for a down payment which I would think "help", no?

Anyway, appreciate it.

for a base 2004.5 Z. manual, silverstone, splash gaurds, microfilter, floormats. all fees, dest charge and taxes included.

MSRP: with 8% sales tax would be $29,419

I paid $26,750 including tax out the door.

oh and i put $9,000 down.

so i paid about $2300 under MSRP.

In my opinion the only thing that "helps" is being relentless on what you will pay. It doesn't matter how much you are putting down.

I negotiated the price of my car without ever discussing a down payment or financing. The sales guy kept trying to shift the conversation to it, and I kept telling him "let's not worry about that now, we are talking about the price." At one point I had to stand up and start leaving. Between his desk and the door I made $300, because the price he absolutely couldn't budge on suddenly became lower when I was walking out.

Invoice was 29.6, msrp 32.5, and sticker was 33. I walked out paying exactly 30k.

Do your research on Edmunds and find the exact invoice cost of the car, and decide how much over you are willing to pay and do not budge on that number. I decided on 500 over invoice, ended up paying a little bit under that. Don't be afraid to print out all the invoice costs either, I had a huge stack of papers detailing the invoice cost of multiple models with different levels of trim, and when the salesman tried fast talking me I made him wait while I checked invoice cost numbers.
