poorboys ex and ex-p are great sealants. Last a ridiculously long time, wipe on wipe off method of application/removal and yeild great results especially on the PPW.
Carnauba waxes are the only ones where it has any benefit to leave on over night for the wax to harden and if the wax is pure carnauba, you have to let it "cure" for a while to even be able to remove it without leaving a haze. Best carnauba, IMO, is the pinnacle souveran carnauba. A little bit goes a long way, looks great layered on top of a sealant or synthetic wax for maximum durability/depth and the way it makes a black or red car look will make a baby cry. It is truly amazing if applied to a clean (includes clay barred) surface.
Tip: When washing your car, after you have rinsed off the last bit of suds from washing and are getting ready to dry, take the nozzle off the end and let the water sheet off the paint. This will help to cut down on drying time because there will be roughly 90% less water on the car. When drying, wet your microfiber towel and ring out before starting to dry, it helps because it seems to make it much more absorbent then going at it with a completely dry towel.
Tip: For black leather or vinyl in your interior, I have found the best way to clean it is to take and mix a bucket of water like you are going to wash your car and a terry cloth towel and dip the towel in the soap/water mixture, ring it out most of the way and LIGHTLY scrub the interior of your car. The end result will be a very clean surface and will have that satin look to it if done properly. Works best on a cool surface.
Tip: Never apply leather conditioner in direct sunlight. Does not give the conditioner time to work into the leather and will cause a hazy surface
The 24 hour wax is popular in areas such as Southeast Asia where the humidity is 90 percent plus. Never tried it. Never seen it recommended by any detailing product manufacturer.
Keep searching and reading. Your friend is wrong, or you likely misunderstood him by not asking more questions. You don't leave it on for 24 hours, it cures for up to 24 hours, which is how long you need to wait to apply another coat.

Most products will flash in about 15 - 20 minutes where the base layer is starting to harden on the surface. After that you can remove the excess product and it will continue to cure for about 12 - 24 hours. For more detailed information and step by step help I recommend reading our Auto Detailing Guide.
