Help me connect to the Internetz

I reformatted my hard drive and installed winxp 32 bit
I installed the driver for the modem, but installing the router driver didn't go all the way through.. any ideas? I've connected before the reformat

Install your motherboards network drivers.

If its an Intel board, it should have an Intel Express Installer cd,

This is such a broad request with little to no real details.

It could be anything from drivers to the router not being plugged in.

It would help if you could tell us if your network adapter is listed in Network Connections, or if you have a public and private IP in ipconfig.

i agree more info is needed.

Go to my computer

right click my computer and click properties

click the hardware tab and device manager

Do you see a Yellow circle with black exclamation point over your network adapter?

If you do then drivers are still needed, if not and the all is find then you network card drivers are fine.

remove the router from the equation. plug the dsl/cable modem directly into your computer and see if your able to get online. If you are able to the problem lies with your router.

If you still cant get online, there maybe a problem with the modem or ISP (more likely isp since the modem was working fine before)

let us know how it goes from that

damn.. it was configured to a different proxy and port setting. set it back to default and it was working.. I was baffled, cuz i was getting an IP and DNS, but no default gateway... and yes, I've already gone over all the basics.. thanks for all the input, nonetheless.
