Its doing the same thing that people did with the wiimote about a year ago. It uses the accelerometers built into the iphone as a pseudo gtech.

Yeah, by no means is this to replace anything that is accurate, but supposedly its decent enough.

I think it would work for the new ipod touch as well.

I understand. It doesn't make sense to have 2. I don't care which one they delete, as long as one stays. I would like to hear from people who try this out.

well, I downloaded it and ran it quickly this morning. cool little app, but it can be improved on.

Found a long empty road this morning (where I live, there are a lot) and just took off from a stand still. No revving or anything, so it wasn't a "launch" by any means. I didn't want to go the full 1/4 mile as I was nearing 100mph, so the stats are only to 1000' with the cars weight entered at 3320 and 0% for drivetrain loss, so the number is supposed to be the "at the wheels" number, which is why its so low. I guess with a few more runs, the numbers can get pretty close to what the car is capable of.

Its probably low since you only entered 3300 lbs. You have to include your weight as well.

The most accurate way to tell is if you go weigh yourself with a full tank at a truck stop or something.
