What do you guys think of this laptop?

I am looking for a new one for school, I dont really need it for games because I have a nice pc. I just want it to be pretty quick, last a while, and look good. I came accross this one and thought it was pretty good, if you dont like it what do you suggest for about 750.. no more?

Not bad, Apple knock off.

A friend of mine just bought an HP from Circuit City for $699 with a $50 mail in rebate. 17" 2.0 dual core AMD with a 200gb HDD and 3gb of RAM. I like it and I definitely think it was a good buy. Though the first thing we did was reformat. I can't stand all this BS all the manufacturers put on from the factory... terrible.

Personally, if you'll be taking it to classes often... a 15.4" or smaller is nice. I know my last laptop (that I used through college) was a 17" and it was a pain sometimes. If I was in the market for one right now, I would probably pick up that HP my friend bought.

I say it's a pretty good deal, especially with Sony Laptops... I think they have better customer service than a lot of name brands out there... the only thing I would do is upgrade the memory, since you're going to be running vista on it. That OS eats up a lot of memory, so if you can push it to 4gb of mem. But otherwise than that, I say it should be well enough and sufficient for school applications.

If it's running 32bit than don't bother with 4gb. You'll be lucky to get 3.25/3.5 after allocating RAM usage for video card, paging swap file and a few other little things. If you stick with 32bit then save yourself money and go with 3gb. If running 64bit then you'll be golden with 4gb. That's what I'm currently running on my desktop at home. Runs like a champ

If your going for price i don't think you could beat this, and you can buy it in store.

I just bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 at Best Buy for $699.

Intel T5750 2.0GHz, 3G RAM, 250G HD, 15.4", Vista Home Premium. No problems yet.

Mine's got the same processor, 1G more RAM, 50G more HD, cost $75 less and I didn't have to mail-order it.

Hmm I might have to check that out..

Edit: although its a good deal.. I really hate the way it looks and its only 45 more for this sony because there are no taxes on it.

just about every flavor of vista comes in both 32 and 64 bit.

Although it is a pointless waste to be getting 32 bit nowadays

So, $45 and you wait for it, get less RAM and a smaller HD... Or, save $45, get it today and have more RAM and a bigger HD. Was an easy decision for me. I'm typing on mine right now.

Yea its a good decision but again i am really not feeling the looks and layout of the laptop. Its kind of like me buying my Z it may be more expensive than say an old ls1 and slower, but it looks a whole lot better lol.

Well for most people, styling is a big part of why they buy a car. For most people, styling is NOT a big part of why they buy a computer. But hey, it's your cash.
