Home Theater Wiring? Monsters?

Ok... I've choosen my system... the house reconstruction is about half way through and they are doing the wirings for electricity and everything.. So i figured I'd put my wiring for Surrounds in there so it doesn't look messy outside.

Q: What is a good type of wire? I've searched around and they say the "fatter" the wire is, the better.. I've worked in Radio Shack for awhile before and people Loved MONSTERS wires. It cost a bunch though. Are Monsters worth it? If not, what other brands to bring out the full HD Sound?

Q2: Noobie Q.. Does Surround sound better at "ear level" or on top of ceiling in the corners??

Thanks... I have to shop for wires soon before they finish the wirings in the house

Q1:

check www.monoprice.com They have excellent quality wiring/connectors/ whatever you need basically. I have used several of their products, as have many of my friends...with NO issues...and great results for a FRACTION of the cost.

Q1:
Cabling is definitly worth the price if those cheapy cables could sell it for 100+ dollars they would but they can't because they are crapola the old saying goes "you get what you pay for" applies greatly towards this. Same applies to rims, rim companys make knock offs so what your telling me that there is no difference?

Q2

With the huge advancements in the quality of inceiling and inwall speakers there really is no difference in if they are ear level or not. Depending on the dollars your looking to spend that is!!!

Any other help let me know I sell this stuff all day long at tweeter

If your spending thousands on speakers/amplifier/HD tv, why not spend a little on some good wiring? I have Speaker Craft installed in my ceiling and the installers used "spaghetti thin" wire, I later ripped it out and installed the MonsterCable speaker wire.

I used the Monster Z1 stuff for my Denon/Boston Acoustic setup and was really pleased with them. However, I did get them at a substantial discount. The Blue Jean wires seem to be equally nice as well. Monoprice does make solid HDMI cables, but I am still a sucker for premium wire, especially for the piece of mind that I will not be unhappy with it and have to rip it out of my walls later.

Did you know that one of the highest marked up items at a bestbuy style store is cable?

There's some nice high end cable out there, however, buy only what you need. Chances are unless hes running a pair of $3000.00 speakers, normal speaker wire will do him just fine, just make sure its not 20 gauge wire.

Monster is a rip, just go to monoprice.com or get some blue jeans cables.

If you want to do research, this is the best forum:

Is a shielded HDMI cable really necessary?

Thanks... Im having the ENERGY Home Theater..

Speakers: 2 Energy C 500
Mid: C-C100
Surround: C-R100
Sub: SVS PB12-NSD
Amp: Onkyo 606

It's def not the premium set... These cost about 2000-2500 total. So I really don't know if spending a few hundred on Monsters is worth it

Im looking into Blue Jeans right now. Im running the Surround through my ceiling and the rest just in the room... Is this what I should be getting?

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...q =1&format=2

12AWG CL2 Rated 2-Conductor Loud Speaker Cable

or is 4 conductor better for the set up?

I do know that cabling has very high mark up being that I am in the business but like I said if those cheap companys could get more money they would the highend cables like kimber and audioquest and monster are great cables because they spend millions of dollars on making them that way I have been to both factories and they really do alot of research.

the only difference between 2 or 4 conductor is if you were going to run stereo speakers or wanted to split the wire 2 conductor is fine for a home theater

Energy + SVS is a nice set up. I have Onyx Rockets + Onyx sub.

That's the same cable I used for my HT in the walls, works fine for me. I used 2 conductor because everything in my room is spaced out. Make sure to buy some banana plugs, they're cheap there.

You mean they spend millions of dollars on marketing?

Why doesn't places like monoprice just charge more? because the idea was to have cheap priced cables.

would you rather sell 10 cables at $100 each or 100 cables at $10?...
however I bet monocable sells a shitload more cables then monster does.

Cool.. so I'll just buy like 50 feet of those cables, cut them, put banana plugs on it and hook it on? are there differences between Subwoofer cables and Speakers ones? Im assuming I need both Open end and Closed end banana clips?

sorry my first setup.. lot of questions..

Last questions.. any other cables I need to buy? So i can purchase at once.

Im connecting my LCD TV / PS3 / Home Theater and possibly a cheapy DVD player that plays those VCD from China...< (no need for high quality cable..)

So have you taken any digital/analog electronics or electromagnetic theory classes? Or are you just listening to what they tell you?

more than likely he has a phd in the subject...

also, do some reading...there have been independent lab studies done that show the Monster does perform better than the Monoprice cable. However, it was only noticeable in runs of like....100 feet or more...and even then, the performance gained was about negligible.

cables are one of the most over-hyped and overpriced items on the market. Do yourself a favor, save a boatload of money, and go through Monoprice!!

110% agree with you, why do people not understand that monsters cables are marked the HELL up! In fact, you can buy cables half the price of Monsters and work the same or sometimes better. It is so funny how you see those cables with a million certifications.

Yeah you should get good cables, just don't waste your money on monsters.

Not to jack your thread, but how can you connect the ps3(blu-ray player) to a home theater if there is one HDMI output and it goes to the TV. I just have the PS3 on my room but I am thing of putting it on the "entertainment" room., and want to use it with a home theater.
