Before I had been shopping for this Samsung 40" LCD for about the same price.
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN40A5...f=pd_cp_e__map

I really don't want to spend more than $1,100 and these 2 seemed to fit in my budget but the Vizio seems like the better value. I have a huge living room and I sit pretty far from my current 32 inch LCD which is way too small for the room. Which flat screen would you guys go with?

From my experience selling televisions and such, Samsung makes the best TV's. In fact, they build the screens for several other manufacturers. I'd sacrifice a little size for good quality. I'm not very familiar with vizio, though.

Go with the Samsung. That's what I have and the quality is great. Read up online on the Vizio and they don't have the best reviews. 40" is enough anyway and you get 1080p instead of 720 with the Vizio.

I heard Vizio is the #1 selling LCD HDTV in America. I did my research before I bought my 42" LCD HDTV & couldn't be happier. You can also read reviews on Cnet.com for the Vizio all of them are good. Just remember not to have any static image for very long on a Plasma screen so if you play video games, I wouldn't recommend Plasma, but if you don't, go for it.

For Plasma, don't over look Panasonic. They consistently have top quality plasmas.

I would even put Vizio on the same list with top tier brands. They should be compared with off brands such as Westinghouse etc. Vizio are cheap for a reason.

If you have a huge living room then why do you need a flat panel? You get a lot more screen for your $$$ buying a DLP or LCD projection.

You also have to remember that its one of the cheaper brands that people buy at WalMart, Sams, and Costco. So of coarse it will sell a lot.

I have a Samsung LCD and the picture is amazing. I have gotten many compliments on its picture quality.

I bought a vizio 42" LCD around a year ago for football season and love the picture. All my friends loved coming over to watch games (when I was at college). I will say that the built-in speakers suck and get muddied when you turn the volume up, so I say having a surround-system is a must with a vizio.

If somebody is running a big screen without a surround sound system, they shouldn't even bother with the TV. At least have the TV hooked up to a stereo system to get the bigger, deeper sound that a big screen should have.

I just bought a Toshiba HD 46" LCD 1080p Super Narrow Bezel from Costco for my garage. $1299.99 from the online store, I think $50.00 for shipping. Couldn't be happier.

My parents have had their Hitachi 42" Plasma for about 2 years now and it has been fantastic. Not one little problem with it.

i have gone through ( still using ) 3 samsung series 7 dlp 61"...it keeps loosing picture on cod4 ( ps3 )...checked all my connections but it only happens to cod4????..not on stndrd cable/hd tivo/...or any other sources...im thinking its being overloaded by something...the pic goes out and comes back after a while

the store replaced it a few times already and its just gotta be a setting somewhere that needs to be adjusted, again ive had no probs on my other inputs...hd/standard and even other ps3 games

other than that its great...( i have a sony xbr and kdf theyve never had this happen but theyre lcd's while the sammy is a lcd using dlp..)

I like how people bash Vizio because it is a cheaper LCD/Plasma TV, I have 2 Vizio's, 1 -32" LCD and a 50" Plasma and have never had any problems with either one. The HD picture if tuned correctly gives you just as good if not better picture then any Samsung, Panny or Sony. I have had a Sharp Aquos and returned it only to get another Vizio.

I got the same Vizio at Sams Club last week for $960. Not sure how but the sign said 1,350 and it rang up $960 so I bolted out of there fast. As far as quality goes I think its great for the price. For some reason maybe someone can chime in, there is some slight vertical banding on the screen only noticeable from 2 feet away. Other than that you cant tell. It was a easy choice for me to get it because of the size and price. I give it a 8 out of 10.
