I recently came into possession of a 2G 16GB iPhone and I was wondering if it is worth activating since it's an older model?

I know the EDGE network can be pretty slow on the 2Gs, but I'm in a WiFi area 90% of the time anyway.

Hell yeah!! And you don't even have to sign up for a 2 year service agreement since you didn't purchase it from AT&T or Apple.

I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

call them for a plan....... tell them your interested and not signing up, They will help you AT&T customer service for iPhones is very good and speaks English.

As for activating it, go for it. I refuse to upgrade until mine dies. My car has gps and I only ever surf the web from home or google answers to bar trivia which works fine on edge. I've also had mine since the first iDay and never had any problems.

Data plan for the 2g is $20 and for the 3g is $30. (unlimited internet)

Stick with the 2g. People are complaining about the 3g reception. A lawsuit is in process by a customer. For now the 2g is a better.

Unlock it and use a T-Mobile plan like I do. I have 1500 Whenever + Total Internet Addon.

I love my 2g. Both my work place have blazing fast wifi and that's the only place I use internet (if any). Anywhere else, I just use phone or text. I don't need the 3G. Keep the 2g. As for plan I have the basic 39.99 (450 min+ 200 texts) + 20 (data) +10 (1500 texts) = bill come to $80 month. ATT also has roll over which is really cool. Over the last 9 months, I have accumalated over 1500 roll over minutes

. I don't know what to do with all those free minutes

i thought you have to have atleast the 59.99 plan?

im asking because i have at&t, and am getting an iphone from a friend, but dont want to have the 59.99 plan. can i keep my 39.99 plan?

I DJ bar trivia shows and have been known to drop people's phones into pitchers of beer when I've caught teams cheating. Rule #3, no cell phones, no lap tops, no books, no maps.....don't wander the bar aimlessly....if you cheat, don't get caught.
