Monitor shuts off after playing a game for a minute?

Story is yesterday my dads PC blew up thanks to my neice and my dad and I went over to best buy and picked up this PC

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1212192194514

When he plays wow he can play for about 5 minutes and then the monitor shuts off and the power light just blinks?

I know vista has updates / problems can this be one? or is this a monitor driver problem?

Is it just the monitor? Or the PC entirely.

If its just the monitor, check the settings in wow. Make sure the refresh rate isnt set higher than the computers refresh rate.

In WoW - its under Video Settings

In Vista, right click on the Desktop and click on Personalize and then click on Display Settings at the bottom. Then click on the Advanced button, then click on the Monitor tab and its listed there.

Check the refresh rate like they were saying. Chances are the pc has it set too high if you are using the monitor from your old computer. Typically flat screens average refresh rates are at 60 hertz, but crt are much higher.

That is most likely the problem, or it is a setting in the game trying to run a resolution that the monitor cannot handle.

If it was a problem with the resolution or refresh rate, the problem would be evident from the beginning. I highly doubt it would run the program fine and then 5 minutes later decide it can't do it anymore.

Definitely get the updates and update drivers. Try another graphics intensive game if you have one. Is the PC in an enclosure? Is it being adequately cooled? Have you checked for thermal events?

vista 64bit > integrated (not radeon) > hd 3200
