Post Official Car Speach to Computer Speach translation thread
What is this?
A few of us geeks stated to make car-to-computer analogies which made me think, why don't we create a giant list of terms and translate them into the computer world.


The format of the translation is as follows:

Automotive Term - Computer Translation
  • VTEC - Hyperthreading
  • Turbo/Supercharging - Overclocking
  • Tuning - Tweaking the BIOS
  • Dyno - Benchmarking
  • Butt-Dyno - 3dMark? HDTach?
  • Meth or Water Injection - Water Cooling
  • Limited Slip - Dual Core
  • SES Light- Blue screen of Death (Machine Check exceptions)
  • Low Oil light on 06 models- Blue screen of Death
  • Blown engine - Melted Processor, Blown Transitor, smoke coming out of case. Not good.
  • Failure due to overheating - Melted Processor
  • Leaking Radiator Fluids - Water cooling leak
  • Ricer package - LED fans and LED lighting
  • Detonation - Overheating
  • Lamborghini - Intel's Skulltrail
  • Push button ignition - power button.
  • Radiator Fan - Processor fan (Radiator Fan in Water-cooled systems)
  • Fuel Pump - Power supply
  • Radiator - Heat sink (Radiator in Water-cooled systems)
  • Coolant - Distilled Water (water-cooled systems only)
  • Turbonator - PhysX
  • Forged Internals - 45nm Process
  • Chasis - Motherboard
  • Body Panels - Computer Case

Busted head gasket = swollen/leaking capacitors.
Push button ignition = power button.
radiator fan = processor fan.
fuel pump = power supply.
radiator = heat sink
coolant = thermal grease
prius = sleep/hibernate
head unit = sound card

I could do this all day....
