Default My 8800GTX Finally Died...

Thinking about picking up one of these BFG GTX 295 cards.

The last card I had was an EVGA. Any opinions on the BFG brand/GTX 295?

i think there would be no difference between the 2 brands or xfx or other "reference" brands...

personally, i had pretty good luck with evga as well as bfg.

and the 295 would be a giant leap from 8800.... so just find the best deal on that card

BFG is fine. Like Tac-M said, they're all just building on the reference board and tweaking frequency settings, then adding their own heatsink. I think EVGA has a lifetime guarantee or something though, right?

Can't really remember the differences between their replacement policies but they're worth checking out.

Why waste money on this old hunk when you can buy a new ATI HD4890 for $160 and have the same or better performance?
Hell, the 4890 outperforms the GTX280.

I use bfg both at home and work, their customer service is great should the need for a replacement ever arise.

I am probably going to have a major bottleneck at my CPU now.

Mainboard - EVGA 680i
Core2Duo e6700 @ 2.66 - OC'd to 3.25

I guess I will wait for The Core i7 to come down a bit in price then pick one of those up.

Get either the GTX275 or 4890. Those are the best cards for the money.

I would try to get a 4890 with a 6/8pin connector as they OC a bit more.

If its from EVGA, I believe they have a lifetime warranty if you filled out the warranty card or registered it online.

My 9800gx2 went out recently and they replaced it free of charge.

I would buy something to tide you over. Why buy any high end card righ now? We are on the cusp of a big gfx jump and no new software realy requires anything beefy besides crysis.

I am into flight sims, so I need all the horsepower I can get, plus, I run solidworks with simulation. Really, for 499.99 that GTX 295 isn't a bad deal considering how much I paid for the 8800gtx when it came out.

That's what happens when you buy crap.

Buy any ATI HDXXXX and you'll be good.

Thanks bye.
