so i had an old computer that had a sata hd as the master and had everything on it. something went wrong in the computer and could not be saved, i have built a new computer but would want to save all the data in the first hd. Since it is a sata drive i am not sure how to save the data since it cant be set to a master of a slave drive. is it possible to put the old sata master into the new computer without ruining it?
go ahead and hook it up, make sure the sata port in the bios is set to on, make sure the boot order has your boot drive as number one. it will mount just fine.

cheshirecat79,
Thanks I am going to give that a try tonight. Hopefully my old HD is okay, I would hate to lose everything I have on it.
Thanks I just did and it work. PITA to transfer a lot crap over to my new hard drive. Once that is complete I will format my old hard drive and use it as storage space
