Building a new PC, but had a some questions so chime in PC builders!!!
Well I have made two systems this year, and gave both away one to my older brother who is loving every second of it and second one to my uncle who got me a car for College.
First/Second Build
E8400/E8500
Evga680i/XFX790i
4gig Muscin PC6400/8gig Muscin PC1000
500gig 32mb cache HD/500 gig 32mb HD
MSI8800 Ultra/9800GX2 but two of them
Corsair PSU 850 watt/1200 wat PSU Ultra X3(got it for free from a friend that worked at CompUSA good PSU)
Stacker 830case/Coolermaster 1000 case
So those two where my first builds, but this time around I am on a much smaller budget, and thinking of this set up. Main concern is any one used the CPU and GPU.
AMD Phenom X2 550 Black Edition
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P
Gigabyte GV-4890C 1gig
Musking DDr2 1066 Black Edition Memory
Western Digital 1T HD Black Caviar
Hanns-G 281DP (28 in monitor I love this freaking thing. I have used it on all my older systems.)
Plextor 24X DVD/CD Burner
Antec P183
Antec CPX 850w PSU
Here are a few photo bucket links of some picks from my old builds. Thanks again for reading, and I hope some one who has used any of these items can post some personal experience.
Ive heard nothing but good about that CPU. Depending on the motherboard's bios, ive heard you can "flip a switch" and make it into a quad core. Might be something to look into.

I am pretty bias'd towards Intel chips. It seems to me that they have been the better bang for the buck cpu and also it is much easier to sell later down the line.
The only thing I would change about your build would be to instead of getting a 1tb drive to get two 640 black and raid them for much better performance.
Also I would recommend the Corsair 850HX as it is probably one of the top PSU's right now. Or the Antec Signature series.
I am thinking of doing Raid 0, but I never installed something like that before. Also, some guy at work said that the hard drive will fail quicker because of it, and I will have lost of my data. He also said that I would gain only 1-3% and wont even notice it. I dunno how much truth there is too it, but all these people seem to want to god the raid 0 route to speed up there machines.

Actually, AMD has been the king of the "best bang for the buck" title for the better part of a decade. Pretty much the most expensive AMD right now is the 965 black...a 3.4ghz quad core and its right around the same price as an E8600 and MUCH less expensive than anything even close to comparable. Hell, the only thing that outruns it are the upper end Corei7s..and those are much much more. I do agree with the PS suggestions. I love my Corsair 1kw and the Antec Signatures are very good also. Enermax makes a good PS as do Trajan, PC Power and Cooling and Seasonic. Cant go wrong with any of those.

- I was pretty sure the Intels were the much better chip as when I did my research the Intel chips were out performing the AMDs by a large margin. Of course that was when the Q6600 was the best chip around and the Q9550 was the newest chip on the market. I haven't looked to far into the i7's etc as I am not too interested in upgrading until they upgrade Sata and USB speeds.
-Raid 0 gets a bad wrap most of the time. You will gain far more than 1-3%. What you really are looking for are increases in access time which will speed up load up time and boot time.
The whole idea behind a raid is basically sharing data between the two hdd's. It is using two hdd's to do the job of one. Now the basis of a hdd is a spinning platter. The data is writing from outside to in, and the farther the data is written (the more full your hdd is) the more work it will take to get from the inside of the platter to the outside. Now with a raid you are basically splitting that in half since it should take you two times longer to fill 2 of the same hdds than just 1 and thus lowering the time it takes.
Not sure if that makes any sense what so ever.
Regardless, having a raid 0 set up can be frustrating if one hdd were to fail, as it does mean you lose your data. Solution for that is to either get another set of drives and set up a raid 0+1 or just don't save important documents etc on your main hdd. I personally use a raid 0 for my main os and then a larger hdd for anything else, such as movies, music and pictures.
Thanks for all the info guys, and I will be sure to take better and more pictures during this build. I have always used Intel and Nvidia, and this time I thought I change it up a bit. I am sure AMD CPUS and ATI GPUS are good enough for a amateur such as my self. Again I am thinking Raid 0 is for me, and later on I will add a 2T HDD when Wester Digital drops their darn price on that sucker. Again thanks and I will keep you guys updated.
