Need help deciding on what game console to get. I have been using the PC for gaming and ready to purchase one of these units. These seem to have better racing games. So let me hear what you guys think.

I have both and like the PS3 better. I am not a huge gamer ->I buy 1 to 2 games a yr. I find I use my PS3 multiple times a week, and I hadn't touched my xbox since Oct of last yr until this past week (forza 3 demo)
Other than that; the PS3 is better solely because it plays BluRay. and for the record I have no problem streaming netflix on my PS3 (play-on software). And if you complain about having to buy the software, it was 1/2 the price of one yr of xbox live
That's the problem with the PS3.....it's a game console and it's strength is not games....so IMHO that takes it out of the running immediately.
How is it not strong in games? Just because it adds Blu Ray to the equation doesnt make its game playing ability go away. There are so few exclusives any more that the Blu Ray puts it slightly above the 360...this is even more so if you dont online game. As for picking one, put these in order:
1-I need Blu Ray
2-I need multi-player
3-I need Forza
4-I need GT
If 1 or 4 is first, choose the PS3. If 2 or 3 is first, choose the Xbox.

I'm with Zivman, I have both, but I play with the PS3 more than my xbox... and I used to be a PC gamer... (CS, WoW, L4D, etc...)
Lynchcrew is right, it's essentially all based on what you need..
Also, in the past, I've had to change my 360 twice (red ring of death) and I haven't had a prob with my ps3 yet, and I've had it since it came out (I have the 60gb)...
so my vote is for my ps3...
PS: Modern Warfare 2 is gonna be siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!

I would go with an Xbox360 (I have both). Both have good online services, but the 360 has better exclusives, now that a few former PS3 exclusives are now going to be on the 360. Now like Lynchcrew said, if you want a blu-ray player (which has sick picture) and GT, go for the PS3. But I honstly prefer Forza way more than GT, and like a lot of the exclusives 360 has going for it, whereas the PS3 just doesnt have enough for me to choose it over the 360. Look for a list of exclusives each console has. Then decide whether the blu-ray player is important to you.

One thing to me is the xbox 360 controller is a lot more easier to play FPS games on. I had a tough time playing COD on the dang ps3 controllers. Placement on the joysticks just aren't as good imo.

I refuse to use a console to play FPS...im a keyboard/mouse kind of guy for those games.

I obviously have both but this the way I (ME) see it. I purchase the Xbox 360 because it's superior software and the PS3 for the extra hardware. I let the amount of friends I have dictate which console would be my primary in which all games would be purchased. In my case, 97% of the people I know are on the Xbox. That left the PS3 as an exclusive games only console and obvious BD player.
You are going to continue reading ******** in this thread from fanboys "the xbox doesn't have wireless or a BD player" or the "the PS3 doesn't have Netflix or party chat". Make a choice for a gaming console first and the extra are just perks.
Oh and about your poll, the Xbox 360 is going win......but if you end up wanting the PS3, go for it.

once you get a hang of it, it's fun. It always sucks having to relearn something you felt you've been doing for years. like learning to snowboard after skiing for 10 years, in the end it's worth it because no one skis anymore.
I used to be a "always keyboard/mouse" kind of guy for FPS. Cause when I first tried playing FPS with the console controller I hated it because I sucked at it. You get the hang of it like jdfong says and you'll turn good in no time.
First off let me say that I am no way close to even being considered a gamer. Yes I find them fun to play, but games are not my cup of tea. I have owned 3 xbox's and sold all my xbox's because I was simply bored playing it after COD4.
Now the only reason I have a PS3 slim is bcuz the wifey bought it for me as a gift. I didn't want it nor did I desire a PS3. I don't know crap about exclusives and all that stuff, so I went to a gamestop and asked the guy what he recommended(Uncharted, which was fukcing awsome LOL). BTW I hate the PS3 controller, my hands cramp up faster using this damn thing.
But after messing around with it I believe that I have more uses for it vs. my 360. The web browser, which allows me to stream videos onto my flatscreen. I can watch TV shows, moives, etc online and enjoy it from the couch vs. my laptop. Bluray..nuff said, and what I like most of all is the online/live community thing. ITS FREE! Now I admit it's not as fun as when I had my 360 because everyone I knew had a 360, but having to pay for something even if it's only $30 dollars sucked. I always felt obligated to play my 360 because I payed for the online service vs. my PS3 where I can just play online with others if i want to or not. A sense of freedom I guess you can say.
But what it basically boils down to is preference. They are both amazing machines, but what you plan on using it for is going to determine if you felt you got your money's worth. With my PS3 slim I do believe the wifey made a good investment. Sooo many uses.
The PS3 is a jack of all trades, but a master of none(kinda like an iphone LOL). whereas the 360 is the Blackberry it excels at one thing, email/messaging or in this case gaming.

I agree with this fella, and I must say I like my PS3 better. I like the BluRay moves that is a big bonus, and the games are just about on par now. I will attach a quick video of my collection of games, and I am big time gamer. All I can say to you is get a PS3, and I can say this since I own both. Also, I had my 360 first, but my PS3 game collection is 3 times bigger.
Thanks for all the responses. Have a few months to decide before I buy one. The games I like to play would be either forza or Gran t., madden 10 and the modern warfare. I have to add, I have not played forza or Gran t. before, I have played madden and modern warfare or games similar.

Froza is a great game, but GT5 will be a much better game. Judging from Demos of Forza 3, and GT Prologue I think GT5 will be much better game. But Forza 3 will offer a far supperior comunity aspect than GT will, and this is something they always have done very well.
