Question Stuck on decision about a new phone

Samsung Moment, or HTC Hero?

I can't decide.

Both are $180 after contract renewal.
Both are Android phones.

Moment has a faster processor, but I'm not sure I'm a fan of slide-out keyboards.

Hero has the Sense UI, and that just looks slicker 'n owl shlt.

Does anyone have an objective opinion or reason for choosing one phone over another? Why?

Either way, whichever I get, it's gonna be light years beyond my Instinct . . .

I am in the same boat you are. I was planning to pick up the Hero on Sunday, but then the moment came out........

This post helped me make my decision:

Depends on what your needs are. Other manufacturors are catching up with the iphone in terms of useability so it's becoming a toss up. Personally I can't stand the virtual keyboards so I require a physical one. You should goto the store and test out several phones and then make your choice. Don't base it off of specs becasue they can be misleading.

I had recently switched to Sprint from VZW and had a Blackberry Tour. I traded the Tour for the Hero and I love this phone. The unit is fast and the Sense UI is slick. The software runs very fluid.

Positives:
Slick Sense UI
Open Source OS allows for a lot of customization.
Widgets
Market Place is not as grand as Apple but it does have a large selection of software with a ton of it for free.

Negatives:
Software continues to run even when it is closed. Must be cancelled with a Task Managing program.
Small issue with stock messaging program causes a short battery life. A work around is available and Sprint is aware and working on a fix.
Accessories are still a bit limited since the Europe verson of the Hero is not the same as the US version physically.

These are just my opinions... if you have any specific questions about the Hero let me know.

Overall, it is one of the best phones I have ever owned or used, and I get to see a lot of phones. I work for Best Buy and get to play with all the toys...

Personally I was in the same boat as you. Currently I have the Samsung Instinct and I was going to totally abandon Samsung after their complete failure with this phone. But the moment looks totally awesome especially is specs. AMOLED capacitive screen, fast *** processor, camera w/flash and Android. The AMOLED sceen alone is what I'm looking forward to honesty.
