OMG I'm so happy I was able to get my HTC Hero 2 days early from best buy (reward zone members got early release). The phone's feel and looks are slick and with the sense UI it's smooth with none of the lag that the European spec Hero had. Plus the Android Market is growing everyday and couldn't really find any apps that I wanted that my gfs Iphone had that I couldn't get. The only thing I wished it had was an LED for the 5mp camera (which is great by the way with ample light) But the best part is the 179.99 out the door price from best buy. I was thinking about holding off till sprints new samsung android phone comes out Nov 1st but all the reviews for the Hero were too good to pass up. Anyone who has Sprint and is looking for a new smartphone definitely check out the Hero. It'll be out this sunday the 11th. I love this PHONE

the WebOS on the Pre is badass but I'm a big fan of the android phones so it was an easy decision for me. I also have had bad luck with sliders and the keys on the Pre are really small so the hero got my vote.

Ya, before the Pre, i had the mogul, and touch and diamond, but i haven't been keeping up with phones.
You kno a something is good when something is always compared to it. Like every knew phone that comes out, a company or ppl always ask if it's better than the iPhone.
Or like Hyndai's. They always compare their cars to mercedes or BMW.
So to sum it up, when somthing is compared to the iphone, pretty much the iPhone is better lol

Android is basically the operating system on the phone, and there are tons of apps on the android market. It's open source so apps constantly being developed for it, and it doesn't have to get approved unlike some apps on the iphone. Although a lot of the apps on the android market are really for techno savvy people, so some can be a little to in depth and confusing. The sense UI is a feature on the phone is what knocks it out of the park and the little details like when opening the weather widget if it's raining...rain drops look like it hits your screen then gets wiped off.
And yes I do like it better than the Iphone (play with my gfs all the time), like I said there are no apps that I want that I couldn't get on the android market.

haha I'm really picky and focus on all the little things, no matter how subtle. It just enhances the overall experience. I love the pre too it's just the apps available is what holds it back.

I haven't noticed any lag on my Sprint phone. Now I have messed around with the tmobile Android phones and the browser does lag at times. Overall I would have to say that sprints hero is the best android phone out right now.

It looks really good. I love the UI but I don't like that any apps you download is saved on the shared internal memory which isn't much. You can't save them to the removable memory. The Youtube video playback quality could be improved. The autofocus on the camera is activated after you point & hold the camera still. From what I understand, you can't activate the focus with the shutter button? That means the object you need to focus on should always be on the center of the screen?
YouTube Video playback is PERFECT if you are on WiFi, but on regular phone connection it is lower quality...
If you are not in love with the keyboard, you may want to check out the app called "BETTER KEYBOARD" from a company called Better Android... its more responsive, and better layout.. (customizable too)...
Also, you may want to check out "Open Home" from the same company... a little more customizable desktop utility... it also comes with a memory optimizer widget that helps with things like browser lag...

I have been curious about the Android market and these phones just seem to get better. I love my iPhone but more importantly I love technology and I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of these types of phones.

I've had the Sprint HTC Hero for 3 full days now and I've still yet to experience lag. Now it may be because everywhere i've gone so far my phone always is on the EVDO Rev. A connection (DC metro area). The anroid market is HUGE..and it keeps getting bigger. I've ordered a 32g card and will root my phone soon so I don't have to save any of the apps I download on the internal memory (this was the biggest gripe on the phone but glad there is a way around it). I LOVE Android phones!!

Well I got my 3Gs, and I love it. I hope some one will make a better phone, but still they are all just playing catch up. But I got to admit this phone looks very nice though.
The Global GSM version of the HERO is much nicer IMHO... I almost ordered it, but the differences were not too that great... Plus, now that my MyTouch has Donut, its running even better...
and it looks like the HTC HD 2 is out!
too bad its got winblows mobile...

Android is pretty good. I have the mytouch, and love it.
