It's not a gaming computer or anything like that. It will be used primarily for internet, Photoshop, and the occasional game of Halflife 2. Looking to spend $250.00 new or used MAX. Can you guys help me out? I am lost with all the new things that have come out in recent years.

Between the 2, you decide..the quad core athlon is nice, but im not sure how much use youll make of it. The e8400 will probably outrun it on most applications. Saying that, its a quad core and its cheaper....

Can't really complain about that price for a P55 and a new icore5, it puts you on the current platform as well so if you want to upgrade later to a newer processor you can in about a year.

LOL..cant complain? That CPU alone is about that price...so youre getting the motherboard for free. Nice deal.

Phreaktor, you're going to have to get new memory for the board also, so factor that in. You may need a new power supply also. When you're switching platforms, usually everything other than the drives themselves need to be updated.
