Went to just play with one today, and ended up walking out of the store with one. Only been messing with it for a couple hours, but here are some initial impressions. I'll post more as I use it. I can honestly say, there have been countless phones who've sang the "iPhone Rival" song, but this is the first phone I've used that really is.
OS 2.0:
Virtually no lag, finally a device that seamlessly flows from one thing to the next(on Verizon). Response is prompt, as soon as you select a command it's done. A welcome change for me.
Screen:
Screen is vibrant and well lit, going to have to get a screen protector soon though. As far as touch technology goes, it's like a mixture of an iPod and EnV. You simply touch what you want and it gives feedback(vibration) to let you know it's selected. Like an iPod/iPhone you simply swipe your finger to change home screens.
Keyboard:
Little tight, but honestly I've just been using the touch keyboard since I got it. Only ejected the keyboard in once when I first recieved it. Take some getting used it, but nothing deal breaking.
Camera:
Very nice pictures, I'm not a huge photophile(wtf) but they look pretty damn good to me. I'll post one later for j00 gais.
Email:
Simply entered my Gmail info and was done, pretty simple.
App Store:
Very nice and set up, again similar to Apple's. Top Paid and Free, ect. Once you download, it simply loads onto your dock and you can drag it to any of your three(I think) home screens. 10000+ apps at the moment and growing, so there's a nice selection.
Locking/Unlocking Phone:
Sort of like a rotary phone, you just press and drag your finger like dialing a number.
Browsing:
Quick browser, I've seen some YT vids comparing the iPhone and motodroids and pages load pretty quickly for me. Pinch and stretch isn't supported on the browser, but it is supported on the phone so perhaps a fix later down the road? You simply tap-twice to zoom.
Anyone else Droid it up today?

seems like a pretty good picture to me. all i hear about is how bad the camera is on that phone.
The biggest problem with it is the lag. I'm sure it will be fixed with a software update after some time though. On the brightside it has 2 LED's for flash, auto-focus and image stabilization.

I do get a two-second lag or so when using the camera, nothing terrible though. Like I said, I know ish about cameras.
I will say phone feels much more sturdy than I thought it would, I fell out of love with Motorola a few years ago after a couple of crappy phones.
This one however seems pretty solid.

Hey did you notice your signal bars dropping when making phone calls? On my desk its a full 4 bars. Whenever i pick it up to place a call it always drops down to 1 or 2 bars
Sound quality got better though after i did the program *228.. Still at 2 bars max in the house for sum odd reason when placeing calls.. Old Verizon phone had 4 bars 24-7 ...

hmmmmm
Motorola makes dog shat phones so though I have high expectations, i wouldn't be surprised if I take this thing back within a month.

Yeah im leaning to agree with you, the phone is just ok.. By FAR NO IPHONE killer as stated through all these promos.. AT&T has nothing to worry about except for those whom actually use there phone to makes calls
This Keyboard is a joke i use my finger nails almost to type on it
Another thing i noticed battery life and internet usage sux.. I fully charged the phone when i got home..
Around 1 hr off internet browing and at most 1hr talk time phone was at
15% charge level left.. Def need 2 chargers with this phone, 1 for work and home.
Did you try YOUTUBE yet? What the hell is up with the video quality? its horrible
I find that apple interface is so much more appealing to my eyes.. Apple video capabilities destroys this DROID hands down... MY I Touch will never leave my side..
Maybe i should have taken the new chocolate touch and be done with it

#1 The keyboard is flat, unlike the CLIQ that is bubbled up so you dont need to use your nails... Download an app called "Better Keyboard" and you will have a better on screen keyboard to use...
#2 Better battery life = turn off 3G network support and dim screen...
#3 You tube quality is perfect IF browsing on WiFi, on 3G, it will be crap...
