Hot Italian Sausage w/ bacon over farfalle and a 3 cheese sauce
I am no master chef but I can survive. This is another easy weeknight meal for you single noobs.
Ingredients:
1lb Hot Italian Sausage
6-8 strips of bacon
1 16oz box of your choice of pasta (I prefer a bite size pasta with chopped meats)
1/2 tomato
1 small onion
2 tablespoon of minced garlic
2 16oz jars of your choice of red sauce (Or make your own)
2 tablespoons of olive oil
2 tablespoons of butter
Salt & pepper
lemon pepper seasoning
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1/2 box of mushrooms
Directions:
Start by boiling the water for your pasta as this will take the longest and you want everything to finish at the same time. Add about 1/2 teaspoon of salt to enough water to cover your pasta plus 1/2" more.
Add 1/4" of water to a skillet over high heat.
Next, chop up your veggies:
Parsley:
Onions and Garlic:
By now your water in the skillet should be boiling. Add the hot sausage and cover. Cook for 10 minutes covered.
After 10 minutes remove the lid and continue to cook, flipping every 2-3 minutes until golden brown on both sides. By this time, your pata water will be boiling, so add a teaspoon of olive oil and dump the pasta in.
Heat up 2 Tbs of butter over low heat. When the butter is hot enough to sautee (about 3-5 minutes add a teaspoon of olive oil. This will raise the smoking point of the butter which is necessary because the mushrooms, garlic and onions take a lil bit to cook.
When the pasta is done, drain it aand set it aside.
Now you need to start moving quickly, because you don't want the pasta to sit too long. Sticky pasta FTMFL. Throw your bacon on a plate with a couple paper towels and one paper towel on top to prevent spatter. Cook 5-6 minutes in the microwave.
Around now, your sausage should be about done, so you can cut it into 1/4" pieces and chop up your bacon. You can also put your suace in a microwave safe container and cover it with cling wrap. Microwave it for about 4 minutes or until it starts to bubble. Don't forget to keep the mushrooms, garlic, and onions moving in the hot butter and oil!
Now, simply toss your pasta with half of the sauce and 3/4 of the parsley and add some salt and pepper (or Italian seasoning). Toss the remainder of the sauce with the sausage, bacon, and mushroom sautee.
Put 1/2 inch of water in a microwave safe bowl, break up your broccoli, season with lemon pepper seasoning and cover tightly with cling wrap. Microwave until tender-about 6-8 minutes.
Slice up your tomato and garnish the pasta with the remaining parsely and the tomato. I wish I had some garlic bread and wine.
Food porn FTW!
