Porterhouse Steak with Mushrooms. & Phreak's Marinade...
This marinade makes enough for two good sized steaks.
1/2 cup vegetable or peanut oil
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup red wine
1/4 teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
3 tablespoons wine or balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon garlic powder or 4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Optional Additions: 1/2 teaspoon each celery salt, or fresh ginger, minced, 2 teaspoons soy sauce, chives and shallots. If you would like to add 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard, omit ginger and soy sauce. Note: 1 1/2 teaspoons of Good Seasons Italian Dressing (dry and unmixed) may be substituted for the salt, pepper, and garlic powder for a quick marinade. A spicier version can be made by adding 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of hot red pepper flakes, cayenne or hot sauce.
Combine all ingredients. If you have a blender available, all the hand chopping can be avoided - just toss in the garlic, parsley, etc. and add the liquids and seasonings, then blend.
In a Ziploc bag, marinate steak for 4 to 8 hours (overnight for best results). Cook on grill until desired degree of doneness is reached.
I am going to marinate the mushrooms as well.. When I am ready to cook tommorow, I will saute them in a little olive oil...
When you add the marinade to the bag with the steaks, make sure there is no air in the bag. Fold the top of the bag over to seal it tight. Stack them in the fridge so the weight helps press it in. Flip them over when you get a chance after a few hours.
More to come tommorow when I cook.

Sautee the mushroons/garlic/onions and 2 TBS of the marinade with 1 TBS of butter:
Steaks all done after 12-14 minutes with one turn. Top with mushrooms:
Steamed up some cauliflower and seasoned it with Mrs. Dash (I love that b***h) and tossed some egg noodles with butter, salt, pepper, and parmesean cheese:

NSFW Food Porn:
Washed this badboy down with some Molson Ice.

My 2 cents- For an expensive good cut of meat, aka Porterhouse, all you need is salt and pepper and then grill on high with open lid. Your marinade would be the bomb with a skirt steak, or cheap ribeye. I love mushroomz!

I guess its just a personal preference thing. If you go to any high dollar top tier steak house, you wont find a steak that is marinaded. Usually salt and pepper only, maybe some garlic power also.
I agree on the being a little scared on phreaks personal marinade.

I'm also one who does not do the marinades w/ the thick @$$, marbled cuts I throw on the grill or order at the "high dollar" joints. I usually just rub salt, black peppercorn and some olive oil. Medium well for me. But I can't lie, that money shot and the food pron looked dayum good!
