First time at the track

Went to the Dorchester Dragway, in SC today. My brother brought his 04 GTO, and his friend, who invited us out brought his stock supercharged Saturn ION. My Z is all stock again, since the engine replacement. Haven't had a change to put the aftermarket parts back on.

Was a HOT day, about 97 degrees. Bright and sunny. Felt pretty humid, but not exact on the humidity level. Track is 1/8th mile long.

Best time:
RT: .529 (I know, this sucked)
60: 1.99
Time: 9.046 @ 78.043mph
Ran against my brother's friend. He finished in 9.5xx but won

Worst time:
RT: .578 (Again, this sucked, I know)
60: 2.787
Time: 10.727 @ 75.307mph
I know what I did here... Late reaction, and my launch RPM's were too high, so I broke traction at the launch.

Did run against my brother's GTO, here's how I did there:
RT: .104 (my bro's friend showed me how to better anticipate the green, not bad, huh?)
60: 2.218
Time 9.34 @ 78.445mph
Broke traction a bit at the launch. RPM's were a bit high, I think. I know my brother had about 1/2 length on me at the end... He had lots of problems with his launch, but his slip said his time was 9.61 and he won

I think my biggest problem was my reaction time...
Any comments/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks.

R/T means nothing... just omit that from your mind... your problem was the 60ft ... getting off the line smooth and your times will improve drastically.

Reaction time is not part of ET. 60 foot time is very good. You are running at less than ideal temperatures. Heat is a killer.

Good point on the air temp/heat... That 1.99 60ft is a good 60ft.. I was focused on those 2.2 & 2.7 60fts...

I was launching around 3K- 3.5K on most of the runs. I think that was also my problem... now that I think about it, I had a tendency to break traction at the launch as well. Are my launch RPM's too high? That "Best time" run I launched at around 2.5K, and seemed to hookup better.

Your 60 foot time speaks for itself. I cannot observe your first to second gear shift.

Ok, so I'll work on how I'm getting off of the line.
