Englishtown 7/18/08
Hey guys,
Went to Englishtown tonight and ran three times with the most annoying consistency in my times. Heres the three runs for the night. For reference, Im a bone stock 08 Touring (right down to the tires stock with auto transmission) Conditions: Temperature: 90 Degrees Farenheit Relative Humidity: 0 Absolute Barometer: 28.81 Run # 1 R/T: .331 60': 2.236 330: 6.094 1/8: 9.216 MPH: 78.43 1000: 11.921 1/4: 14.181 MPH: 99.93 Run #2 R/T: .414 60': 2.172 330: 6.022 1/8: 9.150 MPH: 78.20 1000: 11.862 1/4: 14.129 MPH: 99.69 Run #3 R/T: .385 60': 2.165 330: 6.036 1/8: 9.176 MPH: 77.92 1000: 11.901 1/4: 14.182 MPH: 98.98 Any tips to improve my times? I'm upset at how close I was to 100 MPH

lol i can't believe you picked the hottest day of the year to run your car. Your car cannot like you right now. I bet everyone else was running very slow.
That said, you still should have ran a high 13s. So...bad job driving and bad job picking a day like this to run. lol j/k

The Z is picking up only 21 MPH in the second 660 feet. Heat and humidity are killing your trap speed.
60-foot and 1/8 mile times look like 90-percent of new racers.

Uploaded two of the three runs. It was Waterfest this weekend and the announcer was giving the Volkswagons a hard time since both videos I am beating one

How did you race during waterfest? I guess they have become a little more lenient (sP?) since the last time I went with my VW. That kinda thing was simply not allowed.
But ya, Im sure the heat had a lot to do with it. Even with a 2.2 60' your car will more then likely run a high 13 on a cooler day. Go back and try again on a more forgiving day. You will be pleased.

Something is happening in the latter half of your 1/4 mile run.
davidv could be right, it could be the humidity and heat soak. I ran a worse 60' time than you and I still managed to get 13.7 But the conditions I ran in were cooler than the conditions you presented.

I figured it was the heat that was making my runs a little slow on the top end portion.
This Friday I am going to Island Dragway and the temperature will be 64 degrees so I should have much, much better results. Thanks for all the input though.

not to mention that the pressure was ridiculously low. the DA that day was probly something like 3500-4000 ft, depending on what the humidity was. you arent gonna run anything impressive with a DA like that
