Default First time to the track in three years...

Well, before I had an '04 350z with pretty much every bolt-on minus headers and the best time she ever ran was ~13.85.

Today I ran my '08 Z, which is currently completely stock, for the first time to see where it was at.

First run (and best run) 13.995 @ 100.07mph.

Second run (I don't even want to mention), lets just say I slipped ALL of first gear 'cause I tried to launch at 4k rpm and it didn't work out. Over 15 seconds.

Third run, 14.126 @ 101.39mph. Weird, I was somehow faster, but slower??

Any way, here are the numbers from the slips, tell me what I need to work on, which I'm pretty much guessing is my launch.

Run 1:
R/T: .112
60': 2.163
330: 5.97
1/8: 9.084
mph: 78.92
1000: 11.750
1/4: 13.995
mph: 100.07

Run 3:
R/T: .330
60': 2.344
330: 6.166
1/8: 9.269
mph: 78.61
1000: 11.908
1/4: 14.126
mph: 101.39

Did you run at MIR?

I am sure it felt nice to get back out there on track.

I'm not the expert on drag racing information, but I believe that a slower 60ft time typically leads to a higher trap speed and higher ET. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it makes sense that you didn't hook up as well and therefore had a slower time and higher end speed.

You drove better on the 1st half of the 1st run, compared to the 3rd, and drove better on the 2nd half of the 3rd run compared to the 1st.

His 1/8 mph, is nearly identical in both runs. Even though he got there about .2 seconds later, he was traveling nearly the same velocity as the run before.

The static time delta between the 2 runs at the beginning is just under .2 seconds. .181 seconds behind the first run at the 60ft, .196 seconds behind by 330. By the 1/8th point, the gap is back down to .185 seconds. By 1000, the last run trails the 1st by .158 seconds. At the end he's trailing only by .131 seconds.

The 1st run ET minus the 1/8mi ET, has him covering the 2nd half of the track in 4.911 seconds. The 3rd run, accomplishes the same distance in 4.857. Keeping in mind at the 1/8th point the last run, the trap at 1/8th was .3mph lower.

In other words, it does make sense for his ET to be worse while his Trap Speed is better. I just wanted to assure him that it is not unusual. Your explanation, while a bit long and confusing for a novice , makes sense. Basically, he ran the 2nd half of the track better on the last run and the 1st half of the track better on the previous run.

Oh yeah it felt good. Yep, MIR test and tune. It actually wasn't that crowded out there. I got there around 2pm and got three runs in, AND I left early at around 4:30. The event actually ran from 10am to 6pm.

They had some crazy stuff out there, and oddly enough a whole bunch of women drivers???? More women drivers than I've ever seen at an event anyway, was kinda cool. I kept seeing families walking over to cars thinking the father was going to get in and then the women started suiting up and putting on helmets. lol

Weird, I didn't miss a shift in any of the runs. I guess it's where/when I'm shifting in the rpm range that made the difference? I think in the third run I held third gear a bit longer before shifting right at the line. But in the first run I shifted into fourth gear early.

What do you guys think I should be able to run if I actually get everything right? Just want to know what I should be aiming for stock.

Once I get the driving down, then I'll start to mod.

Looks good. Sometimes you go the dragstrip and conditions are right for 2.0 second 60 feet. Sometimes they are not. 2.1 seconds shows me that you can. All you need is good conditions and a little luck.

Don’t know. You can always loan the car to

1. Pat Bateman ---------------------07 Base 6spd 13.150@107.62mph 2.027 60ft

and see what he can do with it.
