Default 08 350z 1/4 mile time

So I went to the track last night for the first time and I was kind of disappointed with 1/4 times. I ran a 14.1@ 101 mph.

My Mods include Spec Stage 2 racing clutch, JWT Pop chargers, Nissan LSD, Rear Muffler delete, and mid muffler replaced with glasspack, 295/35zr18 tires.

Is this what I should be running??? The stock 1/4 mile times are 13.5 and I didnt even break 14.0. Any tips? Is it driving ability? Reaction time?

Really want to run the 13.5 like its supposed to.

. Heres the link to my Race.

It was also 57 degrees. Not sure if thats a factor or not.
The car I raced was a 370z and I beat him so obviously Driver ability is a factor. But still, the 370z shoulda waxed me.

I second that we need to see the time slips. Can't really tell what's going on until we see that.

Also, I believe that some of the mods you have listed are proven to lose power over stock. Most notably the pop chargers on the HR engines are worse than having the stock intakes with K&N drop in filters.

Did you buy the car with those mods or did you put them on yourself?

5 things going off of the video.

1) Don't do a burnout on street tires. Avoid the waterbox. However, do clean the tires by doing a simple quick clutch drop.

2) Passenger. You're adding unnecessary weight and this will slow you down about .2.

3) 60', I am willing to bet your 60' was in the 2.1-2.3 range. Needs work. Every track will be different, so it's up to you on your launching technique. Adjust tire pressure and adjust your launch rpms and clutch slip accordingly.

4) Your shifting is ridiculously slow. You're losing too much mph after every shift. Become comfortable and shift faster.

5) Take your time. That pro tree is weird but as long as it's a Test and Tune night, reaction time means absolutely nothing. Give yourself time to relax and focus on getting your best time.

Yes, I definately agree with the shifting. Second scratches a lot on me when i try to slam it hard. Is there a mod to allow it to go straight into gear? Whether its a aftermarket shifter or something i can put in underneath.

2nd shouldn't "scratch" especially if the tranny is warmed up. Bad synchros can't be fixed without a rebuild. Upgrade to a CD009 if you don't have one already. An aftermarket shifter won't fix anything.

5th and 6th always do it too. Its a *****. Is that normal because reverse? Or is it the problem youre talking about? How much is the upgraded tranny?

6th shouldn't grind. Are you slamming into 6th gear or just easing it in when it grinds? You should never need to slam into 6th...I think you'd be at 150+ mph if you're redlining 5th.

A new CD009 can be had for $1650 shipped. I bought a low mileage one for $1,000.

Now does that fit in the HR motor? I have an 08 Z. And no, its just a regular shift and i have to really ease into it and get it perfect so it doesnt scratch. I feel like it takes too much concentration to shift into those gears if you ask me. Lol

Didn't realize you had an '08...should have checked the title. We have different trannies.

You can try some Redline MTL/MT-90 mix to help, but it won't fix the problem...only help alleviate the grinding a bit.

My z is automatic and when it was bone stock it ran 14.0 (I'm south ga )

Try launching at a higher rpm. Just play a lil increasing you're rpm every try until you find a point where it launches hard but not so hard as to spin the tires. Also try slipping the clutch( letting it out smooth and slower) a lil when u launch. It helps you launch at a higher rpm without spinning the tires. Just don't get crazy with the slip or you could burn your clutch.

Post up that time slip and if you have the stock airboxs put them back on.

With those 295's you should be launching higher than 2000rpm for sure, and play with tire pressure and rpm to see what works for you.

Don't do a burnout just drive around the waterbox and spin the tires over to get rid of the debris. It sounds like you have a passenger get rid of him, every 100lbs is roughly .10 seconds.

Like others have said your shifting is very slow practice quicker shifts.

I ran a 13.7 with a 2.28 60ft so you should be running faster then that with a HR I only have a de with bolt-ons and a tune.
