what tires were you on? what did you use to time? I wanna get one of those infra-red beacon dealies....

I hope this thread gets a lot more love as more and more people are drawn out to the track.

I use a longacre hot lap timer (IR). Not sure if I would do it again, or get a GPS one. I was worried the GPS wouldn't be accurate in cloudy days like today. Its fun watching the times.

I was on an old set of A048s I got off... can't remember his name. Had that sexy white voltex Z. Anyway, they were hard as hell, wouldn't take any heat and I just couldn't get the rear down. There were a few turns that I wasn't on throttle as soon as I used to be.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_3LxS4FrN4 (I cut the quality down quite a bit).

Car also isn't idling right. I think I broke it this weekend lol

I think with the right tires (and driver) the car has a 22 or so in it. Even today I think I could had your 24 :P

I think having video will really help. I met one of the TMP instructors and he basically told me he could shave 2 seconds off my time with one class (which is only $75 on top of track fee). But, since CASC is only there once this year and I don't think I will even compete in CSCS I would rather take a MIR school or something.

Yeah we are on different paths I guess. With one baby here and another due in AUgust I will have to focus on the less intense CSCS events. The further travel and full weekend affairs of CASC won't agree well with the wife this summer. But I will make it to some OTA events for sure. Especially some of them close to home.

I hit up cayuga road course on march 18th this year for the first time with my Z. I was pretty impressed with my car as it was .5 seconds faster than my old AP1 which was surprising.

I ran a 1:25.4. Car is an almost stock 2003 track pack with HSD coilovers, Enkei RPF1s (18x9.5 + 15 all around), and Advan A13C tires (180 treadwear, 245/40/R18 all around).

Nice time! How do you like those tires? I don't think I have seen anyone on them before.

It looks like anything in a 1:24-1:25 would be competitive at CSCS in street. We should go out dominate with Zs Try to get out when Sasha is there and maybe take all 3 RWD classes!

Thanks! I liked the tires, not that I have anything to compare them to on the Z. I just wish they were wider. They are the stock tires that come on the Evo 10. The heavyweight Z also ate them up quite a bit.

In addition to wider tires, I desperately need more power lol.

I think the best part of the video is the sound. Not because the Z is so sexy awesome, but you can hear the throttle and pin point where you are braking and accelerating.

so, based on TMP, here are my lap notes from Sunday.

Turn 1 and 2 I am fairly happy with. Doesn't feel like there is much more speed to be had there. Turn 1 is easy to carry too much speed into, and not enough out of.

Turn 3 feels like it could be in 2nd gear. I know Sasha takes 3 and 4 in 2nd, but he has the revs for it. Its also hard to get over to the right side again for the left hand, so one of the two are a bit of a throw away.

Turn 5 is quick, over the hump to keep the line straight and fast.

Turn 7 (on the map) I ALWAYS brake to early. Its like I feel like Im moving faster than I really am. I also have a hard time accelerating out, especially in the wet. Maybe a later apex here would be good to keep the car straighter.

Turn 8-9 chicane I brake too early, as I lock up on the rumbles. Ideally I should brake between them. Sasha brakes AFTER them! Either way, Im too slow through 10 and can hug the inside too easily. Im also already at the top of 3rd, so a later braking zone might not work anyway.

Turn 11 not much you can do. Simple apex, get the car straight for 2nd gear throttle. I noticed the new diff really helps here. Bit of a slide.

turn 12, if I set it up right I am nearly flat out, but usually just partial throttle. Never brake.

Turn 13-14, hardest part of the track. I treat it as 2 turns, clip the inside, come out, clip the inside and out. Im hitting limiter before the wheels are straight so I have to shift during exit. Could probably carry 5-10km/h more through here, which is an easy .5seconds with the straight.

I also had an ugly time with heel-toe last weekend. I went from "fat foot" shifting with the right side of my foot on the throttle. With the new shoes and seating position I can easily heel-toe now, but sometimes forget that, and sort of, toe-roll-my-foot. Practice.

Yeah! I can't wait to get my Aim Solo to see what is objectively working for me.
Cool notes Rob. Like I said we drive very differently right now, neat to see.
I am going to try some of your holding 3rd.

Nice time! I've updated the first page. How setup do you have Silvia? Are you going out to CSCS?

Thanks guys. I am going to try and make it out to CSCS but now the car needs new tires, and brake pads. I should probably change the transmission, and diff fluids as well.

No vids, I need to get a Go pro lol.

Changes I made were I disconnected the G sensor so that the VDC was fully disabled. I also raised my coilovers and stiffened up the dampening a bit, in addition to adding 20mm spacers to the car. The car feels good, but I need more power! The stock motor isn't cutting it.

Oh, and the car is pretty stock. Its a 2003 track pack. Stock pads, smurf blood fluid. HSD coilovers 12k front 10k rear. Enkei RPF1 18x9.5 +15 all around, 20mm spacers in the rear. Advan A13C 245/40/R18 which are now quite greasy. Wanna look into grabbing some Hankook RS3s.

1:24.02.

Plagued by some mechanical gremlins that need to be ironed out. Also I was not used to how strong the Carbotechs would be once hot. Think I flat spotted my tires in session 2.

Had a clunking in front suspension a little later on? Loose nut on shocks?
Also weirdest of all was the fuel cutting out, and the rpms suddenly dropping as I begun to wind out 4th.

Oh well if car can be healthy it will be quick.
