Very nice times still. I will try and chase you next Sunday! But I will be about 100 pounds heavier than my last run due to putting in the passenger seat and more fuel. I've also switched to Dunlop Direzza Star Specs to keep me in Street class.

So my goal will be 1:22.99.

Good , I love some pressure from any VQ engine

even with your added 100 pounds , you are still quite lighter than me if I remember correctly . the car sit at around 3450 Lbs (track ready)

- im gonna have my race pads next weekend
- the car will run on a sqare setup with RE-11 ( 1 track day early last year ) ** I had RS3 yesterday with about 15000kms road and 200kms track.**
- lowered car 1/2 ''
- I must install a fan on my oil cooler !!!! I hit 275 F. the engine start to lose power from 220F and a very big drop at 260-265F
after the first lap it ran pretty much over 210F +

the rest is some basic pre-race prepping as well all know !

I must hit 1:18 !!

Track ready I am 1430 kg. 3150 lbs. So 300 lbs lighter than you. Wow.
When I set my 1:22.40 I was 3100 lbs on RS3's. 6 track days on them.

Nice time! A sub 20 will feel great when you get there!

2th-how much fuel are you planning to compete with? You should bring a can and just top up so you can run half a tank. The RS3s should hold up, I would take 6 days on them over new ones. I really didn't like mine on Saturday but on Sunday they woke right up, and hoping they just get better. Same with last year, it was about the 5th track day that they felt best (never took them past that though).

Even an S2000 guy with us today found nearly 1/2 second between new and last years RS3s on back-to-back runs. They are just too mushy new.

Well I like the RS3's, but they are now illegal in street class as we had discussed earlier. 200 treadwear rule now. Which I can see why, just that it was done too close to the start of "competition" in quotation marks.

I think part of my fuel problem was that I was running 1/8th tank to save weight. On the front stretch I was kinda hesitating as I topped out 4th.

So going to go with half a tank like you said and I'm going to bring 40L in reserve, but I always bring 2 cans of fuel.

My main problem will be my inconsistancy. I caaaannn do a decent lap. But really, I feel I'm all over the place still. Will I be able to settle down and put up a low 23's high 22's in just 3 laps? Will my car make power with its cyllinder 4 problem? Time will tell.

oh right, forgot that they are no longer street tires. So are you running on fresh star specs now? Have you been able to heat cycle them at least yet? I wouldn't compete on sticker fresh tires if you can. Even if it means doing figure 8s in a parking lot and a cruise on the 401 a few days before.

That does suck that there are only 3 laps to get a time in. I would really push the warm up lap so you have heat in the tires/brakes for the first lap.

Yeah I'm trying to put some miles on them.

Tire rack recommended 500 miles of easy acceleration and cornering just to get the release agent off of them.

I won't get anywhere close to 500 miles on them. But yeah, they will definitely be "freshies".

Just try to get there early for lapping, and make sure you go in the advanced group. And if you do the next event you at least know theres probably 1/2 a second in them still.

Well I shaved off 2.4 seconds off of my DDT time, about what I am doing at TMP as well. Same tires, but about 250lbs less and maybe 10hp more.

Nice work.
I'm going to try and study your videos. Your technique was way better than mine at TMP when I tried it. I think the only reason I was ahead of you was the extra 30 some hp to the wheels.

My line at TMP is questionable. I've never had an instructor there, where I've had one everywhere else so I least have a second opinion everywhere but TMP lol

OTA is at TMP in about 6 weeks and I am going to try and grab Scott for a few laps in my car.

I keep forgetting to ask, how did you like the new diff? I really noticed it around the slow speed corners like the hairpin.

I can't say I've noticed it making a noticable difference. But that might be because I'm still in the muscle memory mode of rolling on power in the same fashion.

I could try stomping it and see what happens.

As for line differences. I just mean it's faster to hold third through much of the infield.

It's hard to tell on video but I know I'm concentrating on entering 7 from as far to the right and as deep as possible turning in as late as I dare and late apexing it. I'm in 4th well before the chicane usually.

I then concentrate on taking 13 as far to the right as possible as well which is counter intuitive. Take that corner in one sweeping motion getting my tires out to the left rumble strips and then applying power down the straight. I could shift to 5th I think but I usually let it bounce of the redline in 4th a couple of times.

Who knows I could be making mistakes. I have just been gauging other traffic, and I find I make up the most room from the corner before the chicane to the start of the front straight.

how fast are you guys taking Corner 1 at TMP ??

from my datalog, I brake down to about 90-93 then take the turn with 1.05-1.1 G

I feel like the car is sliding completly sideway if I try to go any faster.
by the way I see turn # 1 , I should be abe to take it a bit faster than that !!

at SMP Turn # 1 looks shaper and more tight but I still manage to take it at 140+-

I didn't go through all my data. But looks like I broke to 88-89.
Then pulled through peak G's 1.22.
So looks like I'm braking more/ earlier, then on the throttle more?

SMP isn't as tight, I take that in 4th without lifting.

TMP is deceiving, as its more than 90 degrees and has a really wide exit so it always feels like you could have been faster. However whenever you try to take it faster, you end up pushing and scrubbing the speed off anyway. Its a tough one and I am never happy with it. I wish it was banked even just a bit, it would be so much more fun.

2th: the line you describe in 7 is one I see a lot of cars do. I need to try it more. And yeah the diff you let you get on the throttle faster, sort of like running the throttle at 110% of what you normally do on exit. Still smooth, just faster on

i will let someone else comment on that ! hehe ,,,
without seeing your logs , I can only guess and I would prefer not to speculate.

but turning at 1.22g seem to be good at our level

What was your peak G for the track. It looks like I hit -1.51 in corner 7.

Managed to shave another second off of my SMP pro time this year. Was aiming for a 2:03 at SMP long but it just wasn't in the cards. Less drinking needs to be done on the Saturdays camping out.

At TMP in 3 weeks, need to find the sub 24s already!
