Speaking of power and S/C
Alright... I'm loving every second of my Z. It'd be nice to have a S/C option available in the future and with every upgrade there are components that need to be modified in accordance. Being that the Z as it stands may need some additional modifications prior or pre S/C I'm curious what types of upgrades may have to come in before a S/C goes in.
I have some ideas but help me out here. I'm trying to understand how much it's going to cost to upgrade to get an additional 70-80 hp a S/C may provide.
1. ECU - I would assume this would be a must
2. Headers - Is this necessary?
3. Exhaust - I'm thinking this would probably be one of the first modifications after an ECU
4. Cold Air Intake - necessary? It's all about air and the flow for any induction
I'm thinking a S/C kit would be roughly $5-6k but when you start looking at all the components necessary for a S/C $9-10k is looking a lot more closer to the truth
That's a lotta cash :-(
Any insight - I know this is a over worked topic but I'm trying to get prepared for what costs MAY possibly be.
Thanks in advance for your knowledge and insight.

Yessss... no S/C has been announced - I'm speaking from a history prospective

yes FI ussually has its own intake. but headers and exhaust are the other half of the equation outside the engine. all that air in has to come out, the more efficient you are the better. so good headers and a large diameter exhaust(larger than youd use for a NA set up) would be best, maybe 3 or even 3.25 (3.5 tops) diameter would be in order.

internals
Depending on how hard you want to push the SC - you will have to think about internals too. Pistons, crank, etc. I havn't seen it mentioned - i'm not sure how much HP the internals could take.

if your spending the money to dig into internals. at that point spending a few extra dollars here and there would actually allow you to make a good bit more hp,,, example : replacing pistons? oh wait lower compression lets throw a pulley on there and crank up the boost.

Well HOLD ON NOW. The S2K Vortech Supercharger including aftercooler, , pushing 8lbs of boost and making 118BHP extra, is only $5000. No other engine mods. and only a new clutch is added. They say it's about 10-12 hours on Install Time. Now the Stook Engine has a much higher compression ratio then the Z33, and supposedly the VQ has good forged internals so with a similar set-up we could easily be at 400HP + for only around $6500-$7000 Max. which would bring my cost from $27.5 to around $34-35. Not bad. For a 400+BHP car. Hee hee.

true, but hows our fuel system. ecu. ignition? you get the idea.. granted most cars now are built by manufactures knowing people will modify thier cars, and so thier building higher tolerances (extra fuel, etc.) however this car is built off others and pretty tuned out as it is
