Second owner, 36K and 3rd and 4th gear grind whenever I get even the slightest bit aggressive. I can shift fine if I take my time.

Any ideas on what it would cost to replace the synchos?

03 with 35k. 5th gear grinds at 4krpm+. I'm trying to get it replaced but having a hard time. Anyone know what it costs if I have to pay out of pocket?

If it isn't happening under 4K RPM, then stay under 4K.

It would most likely be a syncro and not the gear. Either way they would have to pull the tranny apart to replace the syncro.

Sounds like you maybe outside the warrantee period so I'd be surprised if you got a new tranny.

If you rebuild your tranny get all syncros replaced at the same time and have them look at third gear. That is the weak point.

I'm still on my first transmission in my 2004 Enthusiast.

Here is a short list of my problems:

Shifting into 5th from any gear causes massive grinds
Shifting into 3rd from 5th will cause me to not be able to go into 3rd unless I shift into 4th first
Shifting from 1st to 2nd normally causes occasionally massive grinds
Shifting from 1st to 3rd causes grinds

Nissan refuses to acknowledge that my transmission has issues and replace it.

I have 40k miles.
