After 63,000 miles and 5 seasons of drag racing, my OEM clutch finally gave out. This is a credit to OEM clutch reliability.

I went with the Stage 4 clutch and matching flywheel from Competition Clutch. The clutch-flywheel combination is a considerably different driving experience than the OEM set up. It grabs like a SOB. The first day I had the car I stalled 3 times. This morning at the McDonalds drive-through was a test of nerves. I have figured out how to start the Z smoothly in first gear. I just need practice bumping the Z forward 5 or 10 feet. That technique will come in time. In summary:

If your naturally aspirated Z is a daily driver, a Stage 2 or 3 clutch will be more street friendly.

If you are pushing 400 horsepower plus this clutch-flywheel combination may be a good choice for you.

Flywheel is 14.1 pounds.

If I engage the clutch, then quickly disengage it to stop, it will shutter like the dickens. Other than that it is very quiet.

they all chatter, get over it. just have to deal with it if you want a light flywheel. get a nismo if you want one that is lighter than oem and doesnt chatter as mcuh.

This is the best traditional clutch hands down.....without resorting to a carbon twin or triple.
We actually inked a special agreement with competition clutch: Very special pricing on them, packaged with clutch line and fluid.

Apologise for answering late. My mechanic keeps this clutch flywheel combination in stock. My daily driver was in and out in a day. Downtime was a minor inconvenience.

Also labor costs are more when you "bring your own stuff." I believe the surcharge is 10 or 20 percent.

And three the mechanic has experience installing this clutch flywheel combination on other 350Zs. Feedback from drivers has been positive.

I'm at 57.5k and back in the summer my clutch slave cylinder seals went bad. Dealer replaced the slave cylinder under extended warranty and recommended clutch replacment for $1100... yikes.

I bought OEM on line for $275 including pressure plate, friction disk and throw-out bearing. Local shop quoted me $350 for install.

Thing is, clutch still working fine. I hammered 'em on the Nissan North America dealer survey form. Figure I'm all set when it does go.

Thought about getting performance flywheel and clutch but I'm just a daily driver, no track, no racing, etc.
